How to make concrete and mortar 2-3 times stronger and better.

I think it will be useful for many to learn how you can make a cement mortar of higher quality and more reliable. Therefore, I will share with you a practical life hack.

Today, construction stores are full of a variety of all kinds of additives with which you can improve the cement mortar. Ready-made mixes are very popular, many prefer to use special glue. Although the assortment is wide, the price tag of such goods is sometimes unreasonably high. But you always want to save on repairs.

Fortunately, there is an additive that has become widespread since Soviet times. It is suitable for almost any mixture, is quite budgetary and significantly improves the quality of the finished solution.

During the years of the USSR it was very difficult, and sometimes even impossible, to buy a ready-made solution or glue. Soviet people had to go to various tricks, thanks to which a miracle method was invented. PVA glue was added to the cement slurry. After that, they plastered them, with its help they laid tiles, concreted floors and performed other construction work.

Naturally, you need to know in what proportions to mix cement and PVA. Here you need to focus on what exactly you will use the solution for in the future:

  • If you are going to lay tiles, you need to make a mortar of cement and sand in a 1: 5 ratio. Then pour PVA into the resulting mixture. The glue should be no more than 20% of the cement volume. Add water to the solution if necessary.
  • To make the finished concrete more plastic and durable, you need to add from 5 to 10% PVA glue.
  • If the solution is to be used for concreting the floor, then cement, sand and crushed stone must be taken in a ratio of 1: 2: 3. Add 10 kg of PVA to the dry mixture.
  • When the concrete walls began to crumble and need to be restored, take cement and sand in a ratio of 1: 3. Glue in such a solution is 0.5 parts. The resulting mixture fits perfectly and is firmly attached to the surface.
  • To make a good plaster, you need to mix part of the cement with five parts of the sand. For every 10 kilograms of the resulting mixture, add about 60 milliliters of PVA glue.

In the early 2000s, my father recruited me to renovate the bathroom. We laid tiles on the walls. When mixing the solution, we added PVA glue to it. I recently decided to upgrade my bathroom tiles. You can't even imagine how hard it was for me to dismantle the old tiles. At first I even hated the builders who laid it, until I remembered that I did it with my own hands!

Therefore, I can say with confidence that PVA glue added to the cement mortar works wonders.
