Typically, tiles are cut using a special device called a tile cutter. However, not every common man in the street has such a tool.
Sometimes only a few pieces need to be cut, and therefore it is impractical to buy a tile cutter. Maybe it won't be useful anymore, but you won't get the money back.
I want to tell you how to make a straight cut using the materials at hand. Interested? Then read on!
First, you need to make marks on the tile with a pencil (do not forget to arm yourself with a ruler or tape measure). Next, draw a line along which we will make a cut.
Then, on the front side of the tile, we make a neat scratch of a small depth. Note that you only need to cut through the glossy top layer. You can use a nail or other suitable sharp object.
Now we take a level or a flat iron ruler. We apply it to the resulting markup and make several scratches in a row, making some effort.
This can be done with a construction knife, a drill from a victor, or with something else with a sharp object.
In the end, you need to break the tile along the resulting "track". Place a nail underneath the scratch and press on opposite ends of the tile at the same time. Done!
