It was a discovery for me that plastic windows have a special mechanism that allows them to be transferred from "summer" mode to "winter". I don't think you knew about this either. So listen ...

I changed the windows to plastic ones, but the draft remained. The specialist taught how to switch windows to winter mode

First, you need to find out how well the rubber bands are pressed against the plastic frame when closing the window. The procedure is elementary and will not cause any difficulties.

We begin the adjustment.

Take a regular piece of paper.

Opening the window, insert one sheet between the frame and the sash.

Then close the window.

Then try pulling out the paper. If the sheet turned out to be free to reach, then the size of the gap is large enough. We need to correct this. Our task is to achieve a tight seal against the frame.

To do this, open a window. Take a look at the mechanism below. You can see that it is not symmetrical.

When installing plastic windows, installers set these controls to the neutral position.

The mechanism can be adjusted with pliers or a 10 mm wrench. If you twist away from the gum, the gap will become larger. In this case, the window is set to "summer mode".

By rotating the mechanism in the opposite direction, you will achieve a decrease in the gap and switch the window to "winter mode".

Remember that there are also adjustable cams on the hinge side.

On some types of windows, fittings of the following type are installed. To adjust it, a special key or a 4 mm hexagon is provided.

This life hack was told to me by a familiar plastic window installer. Now I use it periodically.

In fact, the windows do not have official "summer" and "winter" regimes. The purpose of these regulators is to adjust the windows, on which the correct settings have gone astray for a long time of operation (rubber bands have been pressed through, the hardware has worked out in the mechanism, etc.)
