The Soviet Union produced a huge number of cars for the needs of the domestic market. But do not be mistaken to believe that the USSR would not have done cars for export. We do very much. These machines were for implementation in a variety of countries, and very often significantly different from what was done to their own citizens.
1. GAZ-M20 "Pobeda"
At one time, this machine has become a real breakthrough for the Soviet automobile industry. Effective tsilintrovy 4-engine, low center of gravity, all-metal body. Here are just some of the dignity of the GAZ-M20. This machine was the first, which was exported to a serious extent. She has participated in exhibitions in the Nordic countries, the UK, Finland and Belgium. In Poland even make licensed copies "Victory» - Warszawa. The models that were exported not only received the best stuffing, but also three other body: wagon, sedan pickup.
2. GAZ-21 "Volga"
the vehicle project grew out of a thorough modernization of the "Victory". There is nothing surprising in the fact that the "Volga" immediately went for export - not. Among passenger cars Soviet, this was a new level of machine. An improved version of the "Volga" was delivered in 43 countries. The average volume of shipments amounted to 3000 vehicles per year. We knew the car in Austria, Belgium, Scotland, England, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and even Cyprus. Very often in the "Volga" were put foreign engines, including diesel.
3. ZAZ-965
Legendary "Hunchback" was also popular export car. The USSR was the first subcompact car popular car after the war. Porsche delivered in Western Europe. There it knew under the names Jalta, Eliette and ZAZ. Rename it was necessary because of the complexity of the name. In addition, the "Zaporozhets" was not very memorable name. Both at home and abroad, the car gained fame mainly thanks to its elegant patency.
4. "Moskvich" -408 / 412
Vehicles made in 1964 and immediately showed at an exhibition in London. The car differed from its predecessors easier and more elegant body, which was markedly lower. Offered a car to Germany, France markets as well as in the markets of northern and eastern Europe. There he appears under the name Carat, Elite, Scaldia (and this is not a complete list). Renamed in particular, because all the digital codes have already been assigned to the Peugeot brand. More than half of all the "Muscovites" were exported, including in the developed capitalist countries.
5. ZAZ-966/968
First ZAZ-966/968 were issued rather late. It happened on a number of unpleasant reasons for the plant. By the way, the car had the same layout as the legendary Porsche 911. The export version of the car was named Eliette, and later Jalta. This model was much more popular than the "Hunchback". Export model as always different fillings, as well as some of the little things, like the headlights. There was even a "charged" version of Porsche for Western countries.
6. UAZ-469
This car is known in all the countries of the Warsaw Pact. In the USSR machine rarely fell into private hands and more often used by government agencies. However, there was also a "civil" version of the UAZ, which is particularly loved in Italy. Export model, as so often, was recruited mainly from diesel engines.
Continuing the theme Soviet plane "Mriya", which is able to carry the spaceship and not only.
