Has anyone else noticed that nature has rebelled this year? At first, for more than a month there was a complete drought, if the wind blew, it was rare and little by little. As a result, the grass turned yellow and withered. I even forgot that sometimes you need to mow the lawn. And then it seemed to burst. It became abruptly cold and heavy rains began. It seems to me that almost a monthly norm has dropped out in a few days.

And it was then that the grass remembered that it needed to turn green and spike. My site has turned into impassable jungle. I walk along the lawn and feel like the discoverer of some evergreen island.

"What is this torment for?" A friend told me about a way to mow grass without buying expensive fishing line

Naturally, it's time to go to the barn for a trimmer. I decided to give the vegetation a fight!

Since the grass had reached an unprecedented length, I decided to buy more expensive fishing line.

To say that I do not really like to mow grass is to say nothing. And this time the forces were also unequal. The vegetation persistently did not want to give up. I constantly had to pull the line. A lot of time and nerves were spent.

When I got to the bushes, I immediately wanted to give up this idea. They didn't give in to my old trimmer. The line only shaggy the trunks and nothing more. Unable to bear it, I took off the reel and screwed on a steel Chinese disc.

Either the bushes were too strong, or the disc was of poor quality, but the victory was again with the vegetation. I have already begun to remember where my ax and saw lie. Fortunately, at that moment, a neighbor from the site returned home. He looked sympathetically at my fight with the bushes, scratched the back of his head, disappeared into his garage, and then came out of it with a makeshift disc.

My neighbor is an employee of a large machine-building plant. He said that many of his colleagues cut trimmer discs using strong and sturdy steel.
The shape of the knife is identical to the Husqvarna 300 Multi knife with a 30 cm outer diameter. The diameter of the hole that is pushed onto the shaft is 25.4 millimeters. Sharpened beams are located on three sides of the knife.

The only thing that distinguishes the homemade knife from the original is the thickness, which is approximately twice the thickness of Husqvarna. As a rule, steel is used for the manufacture of discs for mowers, no thicker than 1.5 millimeters. Naturally, such knives cannot cope with thick trunks of bushes.

When a thin disc hits a brick, metal or stone, it bends and vibrations occur. For a trimmer, this is highly undesirable. In order for a knife to cope with its tasks, its thickness must exceed 1.9 millimeters.

In this case, the size of the outer diameter should be 255 millimeters. Then the knife will mow any vegetation.

Sometimes manufacturers make more cutting beams on the disc, use carbide tips. Such knives do a good job with grass, but if a stone is encountered on the way, problems cannot be avoided.

Another thing is a homemade thick disc made of durable steel. This is the thing! Sharpened it better on both sides - and no vegetation can resist.

Naturally, if not for a neighbor, I would not have such a miraculous trimmer knife. You can ask for help from a familiar locksmith to cut a disk of a similar shape out of thick steel. With its help, you will mow everything unnecessary on your site, I assure you!
