To all lovers of tinkering in the garden, I strongly recommend making paths between the beds at once. Thanks to them, you can easily walk up to any plant and will not get bogged down ankle-deep in the ground. On the Internet, you can subtract many options for how to arrange garden paths. I do not advise buying expensive materials for these purposes. It is better to see what you have "in the bins". Surely there is a suitable material.

I will share with you options for a simple and popular design of paths between the beds.

1. Tracks from boards

This material is the most environmentally friendly and safe, but laying out paths with wooden boards is not very profitable. The cost of the material is high, and the service life is short. Pretreating the boards with bitumen will help extend their life, but not for long.

2. Old brick paths

Hard material tracks have always been appreciated. The best option is to lay out the "paths" in the garden with red bricks. Also concrete blocks are suitable for these purposes. I do not recommend using white sand-lime bricks, as they will decompose over time. If you have any bricks left after construction, you can use them!

The advantage of brick paths is that they tolerate physical activity well, are not afraid of rain and snow. I can argue that brick is the most practical option.

3. Small gravel or crushed stone paths

This material needs a backing or it may mix with the ground. I advise you to use geotextiles for these purposes. As a result, you will get beautiful, neat paths. At the same time, they will pass oxygen and moisture through themselves.

It is not very comfortable to walk on fresh gravel paths. When the coating is compacted, this problem disappears.

4. Geotextile paths

This option is more suitable for dry areas where the soil is quite dense. Geotextiles are laid on compacted, leveled soil, after which it must be pressed. It is best to do this with fences for the beds - this way you will kill two birds with one stone. Do not forget to make a slight incline on the paths, otherwise puddles will form on them after rain.

It is worth noting such material as agrofiber (acrylic), however, it is only enough for one season. Moreover, it must be tight enough, otherwise it will quickly break.

5. Modern rubber tracks

This material meets all existing requirements. The rubber coating does not slip, does not rot, is not afraid of temperature changes, does not deteriorate under the influence of direct sunlight. However, the purchase of such material can hit the budget hard.

Today the assortment of rubber coating in stores is very extensive. One of the cheapest options is tiles. As a rule, they are assembled according to the type of puzzles using a lock connection. The service life of such a coating can be up to 20 years.

Not a bad option - tile made from crumb rubber. On sale, it can be found in various colors, so that your beds will become more iridescent and cheerful.

6. Sand paths

The cheapest option to arrange the paths is to cover them with sand. Please note that the layer thickness should not be less than 25 centimeters. The sand allows water to pass through well; after rain, there will be no puddles on the paths. The disadvantage of such paths is that you risk spreading sand throughout the site and even bringing it into the house. In addition, it is very problematic to roll a wheelbarrow and other tools on wheels over the sand.

7. Plastic tracks

This material is very similar in properties to rubber coating. The plastic is durable, does not decompose, and is breathable. If you choose tiles with a textured surface, they will not slip. In addition, plastic is convenient to transport, move from place to place.

However, like rubber, plastic has a high price tag.
