In this article, I want to dwell on the use of liquid glass in various construction areas.
Main characteristics and advantages of liquid glass
This material is very economical, it can withstand any temperatures (plus and minus), has a neutral chemical environment. In addition, liquid glass (another name is silicate glue) acts as an excellent antiseptic, repels water.
Typically, cars are coated with this material to protect the paintwork. Also, wooden floors, concrete screeds are insulated with liquid glass. It is used as a protective agent for pool surfaces.
You can buy this versatile material in various volumes, it is poured into canisters.
How to use liquid glass correctly
If you need to process a wooden floor, then the material is applied very simply. First, all dust is removed from the surface, then it is thoroughly degreased. Then liquid glass is applied to the surface with a wide brush. You can also pour it on the floor and then gently spread it using a spatula or squeegee.
To insulate a concrete screed, you need to mix liquid glass with water (proportion 1: 2). It is best to use cement M300 / M400 in this case. After processing, the surface will be smooth, firm and antiseptic.
In addition, liquid glass is used to eliminate holes and leaks. For these purposes, the material is mixed in equal amounts with cement, a little water is added there and the resulting mixture is applied to damage. The main thing is to have time to apply the solution in one minute.
If the work is carried out at high humidity, the proportions of liquid glass and cement should be 1:10. Such a composition will be a good waterproofing agent in swimming pools, bathrooms, hot tubs, etc.
