You have come across the fact that the heating devices in the house do not fulfill their duties as they should. For example, they provide insufficient heat transfer. There are several reasons for this problem. Today we will talk about why radiators do not heat the room well and how to deal with it.
Batteries hardly heat up: what is the reason?
I propose to consider the most common reasons. Surely, your radiators do not cope well with heating the house on one of them.
Firstly, insufficient heat dissipation can be the reason for the presence of air in the radiator. To fix the problem, you need to manually bleed the air, or install air vents on the battery that work in automatic mode.
If you turned on the radiators to the maximum, and the temperature in the room does not want to approach the desired values ββin any way, check the following points:
- Radiator power. Sometimes small batteries cannot cope with heating large rooms.
- Thermal insulation of rooms. All the heat generated by the radiators can escape. Then you will not heat your house, but the street.
Options for increasing heat transfer from radiators
- 1. First of all, to increase heat transfer, it is necessary to accelerate the air flow. If you see that the batteries are working at 100%, and the air in the room is not warming up, resort to this method. To increase convection, even an ordinary household fan will do.
Install it so that the wind blows on the radiator. As air flows increase, the room will warm up faster. Water type radiators work on a similar principle. Cold air streams pass through the batteries, heat up, and then rise to the ceiling.
Due to the increase in the speed of air flows, the room will be filled with warm air faster.
- 2. Please note that the streams should not meet any obstacles in their path. These include large window sills, hidden niches under windows in which there are batteries, etc.
Such obstacles interfere with normal air convection, therefore, radiators are laid out only 50% out of a possible 100%. To cope with such a problem, you can install a special grate on the windowsill. Warm air will flow through the holes, rising up.
In addition, blackout curtains or protective decorative shields are an obstacle to warm air flows. Think what is more dear to you? Beauty or warmth in the apartment?
- 3.It is advisable to install a heat-reflecting shield on the back of the radiators. As it can be used foil, foil-clad polyethylene foam and other similar materials. The heat from the radiators will not heat the wall behind them, but will be reflected out into the room.
- 4. I also note that sometimes, to solve the problem, heating batteries are connected diagonally.
You can go deeper into this topic, but I will not do this. I will describe the method in more detail in the next article. Simply by connecting the radiators diagonally, they heat the room better than with the top or bottom connection.
Be that as it may, first of all, determine the problem, and then proceed to solve it.
In particular, I, having applied all these methods at home, achieved that the house became much warmer. At the same time, the gas consumption for heating the same area has significantly decreased.
