Last summer I bought a dacha, on which there was already a log house made of profiled timber - just for the construction of a bathhouse (4 by 4 meters). At first, the construction of the steam room was not part of my plans, but since the first step had already been taken before me, I decided to finish what I had begun. The first step was laying the sewer system. I brought the drain into a drainage well, which consisted of two still tanks.
The total area of the steam room was 1.8 * 2 meters. Heat and vapor insulation was carried out using basalt fiber (thickness - 1 centimeter), then the surface was sheathed with cedar. The floor is insulated - made of larch. I chose this tree because I am already familiar with its pleasant aroma from other steam rooms. Some coatings of this type tend to exfoliate, but if you choose high-quality larch, there will be no problems with it.
The washing area was 1.8 * 1.65 meters. As a material for the vapor barrier, I used foil cardboard, and I preferred the same cedar as the cladding. Spilled larch floors were placed over the tiles, and the drain through the ladder was directed to the drainage. For the dressing room with an area of 1.8 * 3.8 meters, I decided to leave my own timber - only the ceiling got the cladding.
I didn't want to go broke for the stove, but I didn't want to take consumer goods either. After some deliberation, I settled on the Geyser 2014 version, which is equipped with a closed heater from Termofor. Ventilation was installed supply: the entrance is located under the stove, and the exit is in the sink from under the floor to the top. A 1 kW radiator is responsible for electricity and lighting.
I paid special attention to the pipeline system as I planned to use the bathhouse during the winter season. There is no check valve in the well, but the pipeline is installed so that when the pump is turned off, the water flows back into the well on its own. Due to this detail, water does not freeze in pipes even at -30 degrees of frost - it has been tested in practice.
I can't say that before the decision to build my own steam room I was a notorious bath attendant. But by the will of fate I decided to immerse myself in this "hobby" and was 100% satisfied. We go to the bathhouse with the whole family, when we manage to get out to the dacha - two or three times a month. It was a surprise for me that the children liked the bathhouse so much. After six months of bathing procedures, I noticed that seasonal illnesses had passed our family - we practically forgot about colds and flu.
I use birch firewood and brooms. In my opinion, they are the most fragrant and fragrant, besides, birch is easy to process. Chopping wood for a bath is practically no effort. The bathhouse for me has become a place not only for family, but also for friendly leisure.
There were many more acquaintances in my circle than I thought, who happily accepted the offer to steam in a Russian bathhouse. By temperature, I am guided by 40-50 degrees (when visiting with children) and 70-80 degrees in other cases.
