Broke stereotypes and built a bathhouse with a pool: cheap and cheerful

When building a bath, I set myself one main goal - to make it inexpensively and efficiently. To build it, I violated a number of age-old traditions and modern ideas about how to build. But the end result met all my expectations.

The steam room cannot be called perfect, but I am sure of one thing - it copes with all its tasks. The main plus of the bath is its price. In total, it took me 10,000 rubles for the construction - minus the stove I bought in the store.

Bath

The building is a hexagon and contains four zones: the bathhouse itself, a steam room with a sink, a dressing room and a small veranda. The walls and frame are covered with polycarbonate - to protect against moisture and high temperatures. Outside, there is a layer of insulation made of extradated foam. I made a pallet under the floor (so as not to blow in winter) - also made of polycarbonate. In addition to the pallet, there is an annular trench with a volume of less than 1 m3. Water entering the trench is absorbed into the ground or evaporates.

Together with polycarbonate, I used polyurethane foam in the ceiling area. This material is distinguished by its heat resistance. At elevated temperatures, they do not decompose and do not emit toxic substances. Now the foam does not look neat, but it does its job well. It protects the boards from condensation that forms during the winter and prevents them from rotting. In a year, I will cover the ceiling with clapboard from the inside, and the bath will take on a more well-groomed look.

A separate reason for pride for me was the door to the bathhouse. It took me about an hour to make it. The door consists of two elements - a piece of polycarbonate and wooden slats. It fits snugly against the wall and prevents cracks. The rest of the doors in the bath are purchased. Their quality upset me - after two years of use, they began to close tightly, something came loose.

Pool

Let's move on to the pool. It turned out to be about 2.5 meters in diameter. The walls are made of galvanized sheet metal. I dug a recess under the pool, fastened the sheets together with strips of tin bolted into a ring. I installed the sheets on the bottom and filled it with concrete. To avoid expansion of the walls of the pool from the outside, I also added a solution. Then he covered everything outside with earth, and from the inside he carried out waterproofing along the concrete screed.

I used a special rubber paint for waterproofing. This material is applied like a regular paint, but after drying forms a protective rubber layer. It reliably retains moisture and does not cloud the pool water. I paid 3 thousand rubles for one 5-liter can. This option can hardly be called budget, but it costs its money.

The pool is closed with a polycarbonate cap. Through trial and error, I came to the conclusion that light-transmitting hoods for such buildings are not an option. In hot months, the water begins to bloom under the influence of sunlight and heat. I darkened the leaves to prevent blooming.

We will find out how effective this method is in the summer. The pool is suitable for swimming until the very frost. For the winter, the water from the pool is drained - so that cracks do not form at the bottom.
