Decoction of fruits able to stop bleeding in the small intestine. Decoction of leaves you can relieve inflammation. The Japanese use fruit infused alcohol to treat bronchial asthma. From dried and ground medlar seeds, they prepare a drink that tastes like coffee.
Medlar is not at all difficult to grow at home
from seeds. Trees grown from seeds purchased in garden centers usually do not bear fruit. But if you grow a plant from a seed taken from the fruit and planted in no more than two to three days, then there is a high probability of getting fruits. For growing medlar, soil can be purchased at the store, or you can cook it yourself. Peat, garden soil, compost, river sand are mixed in a ratio of 1: 1: 1: 1. At the bottom of the planting tank, drainage from expanded clay or pebbles is arranged. The pot is filled with soil mixture, leaving 3-3.5 cm to the top.
The soil is moistened, seeds are spread on its surface. Then sprinkle the crops with a substrate with a layer of 2 cm. The container is tightened with cling film and placed on the windowsill of a window facing south or southeast.
As a rule, seedlings appear in 28-35 days. Seedlings are protected from direct sunlight and ventilated daily. As soon as the plants rise to the level of the film, it is removed. In the room where the medlar is grown, you need to maintain a temperature of at least 18 ° C
- If the cultivation took place in the summer, then containers with seedlings can be taken out into the garden or on the balcony. But you should protect them from drafts and direct sunlight.
- The plant needs moist, but not waterlogged, soil. Therefore, watering is carried out once every two to three days.
- When the seedlings rise to 12-15 cm, they are dived into individual pots with a capacity of 1.7-2 liters.
- The first flowering is possible 3-4 years after sowing, as a rule, it occurs in late autumn, with a short daylight hours.
By pruning, you can shape the crown as you wish, because the medlar tolerates pruning well. But you can let the plant grow naturally. In this case, it is necessary to remove the damaged shoots growing inside the crown.
