Females, attracted by the smell of onions and taking care of their offspring, lay eggs on the bulb itself or under lumps of earth near the head. After 3 days, the eggs turn into disgusting white worm-like larvae.

They are the main reason for spoiled crops. The larvae nasty imperceptibly - they bite into the onion and penetrate into the vegetable, where they find their favorite delicacy. They climb into the head through the bottom.

Having eaten their fill, the larvae leave their "dining room" and pupate in the soil. After 3 weeks, an adult emerges from the pupa, which again begins its life cycle.
