Today I will tell you how I process and how I feed strawberries, thanks to which I am always sure that there will be a lot of harvest!

Our family simply adores juicy and aromatic strawberries with an unmatched taste. Therefore, you have to tinker with the garden from March to October. Spring work is especially important, which is the key to the future harvest.

I will not say that this culture is very capricious, but it loves timely feeding and care.

At the end of March, as soon as the snow melts on the site, I cut off the old brown leaves on the sprouts. I notice that some of the bushes rise above the ground, because the fibrous roots are trying to crawl out of the ground.

I eliminate this problem by hilling and loosening. I always spill boiling water with potassium permanganate between the rows - this is how I try to get rid of overwintered pests.

But most importantly, during this period, I help a culture that has starved over the winter to get food. If she does not "eat" herself, it means she will not give it to us either. On wet soil, I water 0.5 liters under each bush with the following solution:

  • In a ten-liter bucket of water, I dilute 1 tablespoon of ammonium nitrate and urea.

The solution contains the nitrogen necessary for the plant for the growth of bushes, and later to increase the size and sugar content of the fruits.

A week later, near each bush, I add ash, which is rich in potassium. If I can get chicken manure from neighbors, then I dilute it with water in a ratio of 1:20 and insist for several days. I mix and water at the root. The bushes seem to come to life and grow in size.

I apply phosphorus fertilizer at the end of April to the already warmed-up soil. My 200 bushes require a large amount of solution, which I prepare according to a proven recipe:

  • I pour 5 liters of water into a ten-liter bucket, pour 1 kg of superphosphate, mix well and leave for several hours until complete dissolution.
  • Shake the mixture and add a faceted glass of 9% vinegar. With this component, plants absorb the phosphorus they need better.
  • I fill up with settled water to 10 liters, mix and get the main concentrated solution.
  • I take 1 liter of the main solution and bring it up to 10 liters with water, - with this "drug" I water 0.5 liters under the root of each bush.

I carry out this feeding only once.

During the flowering period and the appearance of ovaries, I feed it with an infusion of rotted manure (I dilute only 300 g for 10 liters of water) and 30 g of potassium salt. But I insist on this mixture for several days. In the amount of 0.5 liters of this "soup" goes to each plant. And here...

Whether a plant needs nutrition, I determine by its appearance. If the bushes are healthy, and the leaves do not wither or turn yellow, then I simply water it with water and mulch with freshly cut grass.

Sometimes I use rye bread dressing - I crush a loaf and put the pieces in a bucket of water, I insist for three days. Strawberries respond well to these foods. Applying these dressings, I always get a rich harvest of fragrant and tasty berries.

By the way! I almost forgot to ask you to view a funny gif photo (below) :)
