The headache of all late blight gardeners can destroy more than half of the crop, in which an incredible amount of physical and mental strength has been invested. This harmful fungus especially "loves" tomatoes.
And at one time I had to deal with this infection in my beds. I tried many methods. I'll tell you about one that gives excellent results.
The trouble is that, like all mushrooms, late blight reproduces by spores, which for the time being sit in the ground, lulling the vigilance of the gardener. And it is possible to recognize the disease only when the tomato is already in mortal danger - in July.
How to "diagnose" - signs of the disease
- Dark spots on fruits and leaves.
- Fruit decay and characteristic unpleasant odor.
- Brown spots on the trunks.
- Oily foliage in rainy weather.
- Darkening and falling off of flowers.
It is almost impossible to diagnose phytophthora at the first stage of the disease. Therefore, it is better to carry out treatment in advance - it will definitely not be worse.
The reasons
: The root cause of fungal diseases is high humidity - excessive watering, heavy dew, or rainy summers. Besides:- Planting tomatoes next to potatoes, often suffering from late blight.
- Too dense planting (the fungus is very quickly transmitted by "patients" to each other).
- A sharp temperature drop.
- Deficiency in the soil of manganese, iodine, copper, potassium.
- Infected garden tools.
Simple and cheap Antiseptic
Today, there are many drugs to effectively combat late blight on tomatoes. But I prefer my grandmother's proven recipe - furacilin tablets. This antiseptic stops the growth of microbial flora and guarantees the collection of the planned harvest.
By the way, unlike most fertilizers, the solution from it is stored without prejudice to its medicinal properties for a long time. Having prepared it once, it can be used throughout the garden season.
For a bucket of water, 10 carefully crushed tablets of this "magic" remedy are enough.
Watering must be done three times.
- Before flowering - almost immediately after transplanting seedlings into the ground.
- With the beginning of the appearance of the first ovaries on the bushes.
- After harvesting the main harvest, allowing the remaining "last ones" to ripen safely.
In addition to using an antiseptic, you need to insure yourself and the main "quarantine" event. That is, plant tomato bushes away from each other. It is also important not to overdo it with watering.
But the bushes covered with tomatoes, I grow thanks to natural fertilizer - AGROPLANTwhich I am using. Believe it or not, it just "works wonders." Only 1-2 pellets per hole, and all the plants are healthy, and the yields are high. In general, I am satisfied. This year I took it for my daughter. Bought here on the official website. Maybe it will come in handy for you.
