So we waited for the real spring! Leaves have blossomed on the currant bushes. Mine is already in full bloom. I look at her and look forward to currant jam, fresh berry pie for my favorite guests, compote for the winter... And for all this, my harvest is definitely enough, because I have... baking soda.

What does soda have to do with it? Few people know that it is able to increase not only the volume of dough, but also the amount of currant harvest.

The fact is that sodium bicarbonate significantly reduces the acidity of the soil (like the human body). Resists diseases and various pests.

If you are just thinking of planting currants, be sure to add half a teaspoon of baking soda there and mix thoroughly with the soil before "planting" the seedling in the hole. This will help the bush to take root faster and accelerate the development of its ground part.

My beauty is blooming with a thick and lush hat :)

As for adult bushes, the first sodium feeding is necessary for them during the formation of ovaries. For 10 liters of water, 25 grams of baking soda is enough. This solution is enough for two large bushes.

I treat my currant bushes with soda three times per season. During the formation of the ovaries - at the root; twice subsequently - by spraying the bushes. For foliar feeding, add 10 grams of soda to 10 liters of water.

Here are berries of this size :) Put your photos in the comments

Important! The interval between sodium dressings should be about one and a half months. The first time you should do it now. The second time - at the beginning of June, the third - at the end of July. The main thing is not to overdo it: an excessive amount of sodium in the soil can displace calcium and potassium from its composition. In this case, you can forget about your favorite jam ...

Interesting!Sodium bicarbonate, in addition to controlling pests and increasing yields, contributes to the frost resistance of the plant.
Delicious generous harvest of currants

Some gardeners practice dry soda dressing. In early spring, after sanitary pruning of the bush, sprinkle the soil around it with soda in the proportion of 5 tablespoons per 1 sq. M. First, the soil must be thoroughly loosened.

In early June, sprinkle the ground around the bush with "magic powder": 2 tablespoons of soda, 200 grams of wood ash and sand. After sprinkling, each bush is watered with 3 liters of warm water.

ATTENTION! Soda as a fertilizer is paired with another culinary ingredient - yeast.

  • To do this, in 5 liters of warm water, I dilute half a kilogram of pressed or 100 grams of dry yeast.
  • I also pour 100 grams of soda here.
  • I keep the resulting solution for 24 hours in a dark place, then add another 5 liters of water to it.

This “gastronomic masterpiece” can be sprayed on a bush or watered at the root. And let everything in your garden grow by leaps and bounds!

By the way! An important point! Of course, the choice of good varieties and high-quality seedlings plays an important role in obtaining large yields. I usually buy them in two places here or here. There now,by the way, there are very good promotions and discounts. Don't be late! Put your fingers up, I will be very pleased. 😊And also I look forward to seeing you on my new website."4 SEASONS OF THE GARDENER"
