About 3 years ago there was a dry and hot summer. Then every evening I was engaged in intensive watering of all the plants on my site, supported them as best I could. Nevertheless, I noticed that the color of the leaves of the cucumbers had acquired a pale shade, and their border became lemon-colored. In addition, the shoots became brittle, the bushes slowed down their growth.
And the neighbor's cucumbers grew, as always - the bushes were green and tall. It turns out that cucumbers lack boron in the heat, and an experienced neighbor "treats" them with boric acid.
Noticing how I reacted to the word "acid", my neighbor convinced me that this substance has a slight acidity. And the benefits of it to plants are very great. He said that boron helps the plant to better absorb nitrogen fertilizers. And that this tandem of minerals has a beneficial effect on the yield of cucumbers. I followed his advice and did not regret it.
The spray solution must be prepared by diluting 1 tsp of boric acid in a small amount of warm water to better dissolve the crystals. After the concentrate has cooled, top up with plain water to 10 liters.
With this solution, I spent 3 sprays per season:
- At the beginning of bud formation.
- During the flowering period.
- During the beginning of fruiting.
In the open ground, the procedure was carried out in cloudy, calm weather, in a greenhouse after evening watering. My cucumbers recovered very quickly, the foliage acquired a rich green color, the ovaries did not wrinkle, did not fall off, but turned into strong fruits.
The usual cheap substance, which I bought at the pharmacy for 30 rubles, not only saved my cucumbers from death, helped plants at all stages of development, but also became the reason for an excellent harvest. Spraying with boric acid did a miracle:
- The process of photosynthesis in the leaves was more active, due to which the bushes actively grew and developed.
- The number of ovaries increased.
- Increased resistance to adverse weather conditions.
- The taste of the fruits has improved and their shelf life has increased.
Cucumber bushes from spraying with boric acid became more powerful and stronger. There were much more flowers, and hence the ovaries. The leaves did not turn yellow and did not curl. The harvest that year made me very happy. Since then, boric acid has become my good and useful helper.
