Very often the weather is unpredictable and changeable, every now and then surprises - after a few warm days, a prolonged cold snap sets in. And the garden beds are planted with plants thirsty for sun and light.
During this period, all plants are affected, especially heat-loving cucumbers. At a temperature of 12-14 ° C, their growth stops, 8-10 ° C can be critical for them, and below 5 ° C, it can be fatal. In such weather, cucumber seeds may not sprout, but rot in the ground.
If the plants managed to sprout before the cold snap, then the stems begin to wither, the leaves turn yellow. You can still save such lifeless seedlings with a surviving root system and an upper bud. Plants that have rotted at the roots cannot be reanimated; they should be removed. Provide special care for the remaining, but injured sprouts - to give water, feed, give them a breath.
- First of all, you should cut off yellowed or blackened leaves and sprinkle with warm water so that they move a little from stress.
- Free the land near the bushes from weeds, loosen and slightly huddle, - this contributes to the flow of oxygen to the roots.
- The most important condition for the healing of cucumbers after cold weather is the necessary feeding. During this period, they especially need nitrogen and potassium. Dissolve 30 g (matchbox) of urea in 10 liters of warm water, mix well and water the weakened plants. Nitrogen promotes greenery growth. Sometimes, after fertilization, strong specimens immediately sprout new shoots.
- Early in the morning or in the evening to spray the bushes with the growth stimulator "Epin-Extra" - this will help them withstand adverse conditions and start growing.
The best food for Zelentsi is organic fertilizers prepared according to folk recipes. In addition to nitrogen, chicken manure contains a storehouse of useful elements. Usually already rotted manure is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:20. Otherwise, the highly concentrated solution can burn the stems and leaves.
The ash extract helps to recover from cold weather perfectly.
The nutrient solution is well absorbed by the plant and compensates for the lack of elements. To prepare the concentrate, you need to dissolve 3 kg of sifted furnace ash in 5 liters of hot water. Let it brew for a day. For irrigation use 1 liter of this extractor diluted in 10 liters of water.
If the plants could not be saved, then until June 20, you can carry out a secondary sowing of seeds, which will quickly hatch in warm soil. Some strong sprouts are able to catch up with their counterparts who have withstood the cold.
