Good afternoon, dear guests and subscribers of my channel!

In the article I would like to talk about an excellent way of organizing hidden access to the space under the bathroom, which the tiler told me, responding to the plastic hatch not entirely positively. This advice really deserves attention!

All types of bath screens can be divided into 3 groups:

  • decorative panel that comes with the bathroom;
  • homemade or factory universal design with sliding curtains;
  • a screen that is built in place from the material with which the bathroom is made.

Each of them must satisfy at least the minimum set of conditions, these are:

  • moisture protection;
  • ensuring unhindered access under the bath;
  • combination with the interior of the room.
Protection against dampness refers to protection from water due to an accidentally overturned basin on the floor so that it does not fall into the depths of the space under the bathroom.
The combination with the interior - everything is clear here, and access is unhindered entry into the area under the bowl to replace the siphon and other communications.

If we consider the frequency with which we visit the area under the bathroom, then we can understand that we need this once every 5, or even 10 years and even more. Unless, of course, we store basins, rags or chemicals there, for which separate bathroom shelves need to be allocated in an amicable way.

So, constructing a screen with hidden access in place, the following actions are performed:

The bathtub is fixed in such a way that when a person moves, it does not walk from side to side.

Further, the plane of the screen is marked in accordance with the overall dimensions of the tiles (layout), depending on which we will have an understanding of where it is more convenient for us to make a gap.

After that, a rough screen is made mainly of masonry wall materials, it can be either a brick or a block. Drywall is less preferred, since there are bathtubs that, sagging under load, can deform the wall over time.

In the process of erecting the screen, in the place we have chosen, a window is made in advance with the condition that the superimposed tile should go on it along the perimeter by 30-50 mm.

Further, the tiler works as usual, only the tile covering the hole is wrapped in a stretch film in one or two layers, so that it does not seize with the glue.

After the glue has hardened, these tiles are carefully removed (usually with a suction cup).

The film is removed, after which the tile is installed in place and a sealant is carefully applied around the entire perimeter, it can be in the corresponding color for the grout (illustration below).

As a result, we get a functional hole and the tile is always in the same plane with the rest of the cladding. This window is completely invisible, and for access under the bath, once every 10 years, it is enough to carefully cut the sealant with a stationary knife and remove our tile. She dresses back in the same way as she was put on.

I hope that the method was useful for you for future use.

Thanks for attention! Good luck and good!
