Good afternoon, dear guests and subscribers of my channel!

In life, there are situations when it is required to recheck construction work, strengthen the foundation, pouring concrete around an existing house or renewing the facade by cladding a shabby old house. In such cases, we will certainly recall school knowledge and resort to geometry lessons.

In this article I will tell you how quickly and easily you can build and / or check any outside corner of a building without resorting to measurements diagonals, and these methods will give an understanding in which side the walls go, whether the test is straight, sharp or blunt angle.

So, the first and perhaps the most famous way:

Egyptian triangle

The Egyptian triangle is a right-angled triangle with sides of 3.4 and 5 units, of which 3 and 4 units. - legs, 5 pcs. - hypotenuse.

Using this aspect ratio, we can easily build a right angle, for which it is necessary to pull the string along two walls, observing parallelism.

And, since the measurement inside the house is no longer available, we must move the Egyptian triangle to the outside of one of the corners of the house (illustration below).

Now, moving stakes A and B, and by measuring the sides of the triangle, we should get a right-angled triangle with sides 3-4-5. Having received it, you can be sure that the stretched segments AO and OB, intersecting at the point O, are perpendicular to each other. Thus, it remains for us to calculate the deviation of the walls from the stretched strings using a tape measure and get the error.

Second way: Method of two roulettes

This method is no less reliable and in practice it turns out even faster than the previous one. It is based on the geometric property of an isosceles triangle, in which the height is perpendicular to the base and divides it in half.

The string is pulled along and parallel to one wall of the house. Further, according to the figure, point O is selected, from which two equal segments are laid on both sides. After that, two tape measures are taken with a minimum error between each other and applied to the ends of each of the obtained segments (figure below).

Now, we need to match the same graduation values on the roulette canvas. The point of intersection of the roulettes will be the apex of the isosceles triangle.

Further, from the point of intersection of two canvases through point O, a second twine is pulled, which, according to geometric laws, will be strictly perpendicular to the first. Done. The perpendicular is built.

I hope the article was useful to you. Good luck with the repair and construction!
