This is the third article on making stairs with your own hands.
In the previous materials, I described the construction of the project in the program for modeling objects and transferred the dimensions from the drawing to the walls. Articles are available at the links:
Metal frame project. DIY ladder number 1
Projection of the frame onto the walls. DIY ladder # 2
At the current stage, based on the dimensions obtained under the project, I calculated the lengths of each section of the metal frame and purchased the necessary metal products:
- The steps are made from a 50 mm corner.
- Racks for steps to support the supporting structure - rectangular pipe 40 * 20 mm.
- Landing racks - square 80 * 80 mm.
- Supporting oblique element for steps - channel 120 mm.
For the purchase of metal, I added a safety factor of 1.1 to the resulting calculated data, i.e. added 10% on trim and waste.
Unfortunately, where I always take building materials and have some kind of discount, metal products when selling a small volume - the store sells it in multiples of 3 running meters. In this connection, the stock of purchased rolled metal came out not by 10%, but by 20% more (I think that trimming will come in handy on the farm).
Delivery to the place was carried out by low-capacity transport, therefore, factory metal products were cut in half and some 12-meter ones - even into 3 parts.
All the material for the frame of the stairs cost a little over 16 thousand rubles, including cutting 600 rubles. and delivery of 400 rubles.
The next step before assembly, I cleaned and treated the products with a primer to protect against corrosion:
Then he made a cut according to the size of the project:
In the next series of articles, I will describe how the metal frame was assembled for my staircase and how in 2 days I learned how to weld metal with electric arc welding!
