When old is better than new

We live in a world where the new is not always better than the old, and this is especially true for programs.
Today I needed to install a virtual printer that generates PDFs. The installation file of the latest version of doPDF is 81 MB, and the old one is 20 times smaller.

Moreover, during installation, the new version also tries to download and install Microsoft .Net Network. Why does he need a virtual printer? And most importantly, what can be "improved" in a virtual printer if it is already working? Of course, I installed the old version.

Maybe I'm a retrograde, but I use a lot of old programs that are faster, more convenient and more compact than the new ones.

The oldest champion is Corel Draw 7, released in 1997.

In this program, I drew drawings of the cottage, all my furniture, even the layout of the Lamptest website was originally drawn in Korela. Despite the 23-year-old age, the seventh Corel is even compatible with Windows 10, easily transferred between computers by simple copying, takes only 80 MB and works very quickly. I have been using it all the time for these 23 years.

"Office" is not my main tool and I still use MS Office 2003 - newer versions seem to me less convenient.

However, the system itself on my two main computers is not the newest one - Windows 7. It works fine and I see no reason to update it.

And of course FAR 1.70 of 2006, where can we go without it. :)

Very often, the principle of "old is better than new" can be attributed to applications on a smartphone. For example, the Halva map application has recently been updated, and now, with some fright, it requires to uninstall the Team Viewer and AirDroid applications to start, considering them dangerous. I even had to ask Sovcombank to give the previous version of the application without such a check (I forgot to save it before updating).

Do you use old programs or is it just me such a retrograde? :)
