Friends, I welcome everyone to our channel dedicated to all self-taught beginners in manual arc welding. Here we share only our real experience in welding and in preparatory work before welding with different materials.
Today there will be important information How to cut or trim a round pipe exactly 90 degrees. A trick that many do not know about.
Many people know the method when a pipe is wrapped with a sheet of paper, markings are made on this sheet, and cut according to the markings. But everything is not so simple, such markings, and therefore the cut, will not always be even at 90 degrees. Why it happens?
To properly wrap the pipe with paper for even marking, you need to attach the end of the sheet exactly along the axis of the pipe.
But in fact, put the end of a sheet of paper exactly along the axis of the pipe without any reference points, and in in most cases, the butt end lies a little at random, we wrap the pipe in this position, mark and cut along markup. And it turns out not quite exactly. This means that we need exactly this even axis so that the markup is jewelry.
The round pipe has a weld seam that is clearly visible and runs straight along the pipe. We will use this landmark for accurate marking.
We apply the end of a sheet of paper exactly along this seam, wrap the pipe, the ends of the paper make a perfect overlap. And in this position we make the markup. Now this will be the correct marking for an even cut.
But the seam at the pipe will not always be visible. This happens if the pipe is painted, or rusty, and how can we find this straight axis along the pipe? And there is a little trick here.
For these purposes, we just need a piece of the corner. The corner is ideally placed on the pipe with shelves exactly along the pipe axis.
With a marker, draw a straight line along the pipe - this is the ideal guideline for even marking with a paper sheet.
We apply the markup. Our task is to saw off two pieces of pipe, and so that the ends are perfectly straight. We will cut according to our markings, which we made with a sheet of paper, wrapping it around the pipe in the same way as described above. Let's see the result.
We sawed off two pieces of pipe, we check the accuracy of the cut by aligning the ends of these pipes - the cut is ideal, it can be seen from the even minimum gap between the pipes.
Turn over the pieces of pipes to join the other ends. Everything is perfect, our cuts turned out to be smooth, and it will always be so if you use all the tips described above.
And now, for clarity, let's watch a detailed video where I tell and show all the little things about this method of even marking.
