Difficult welding. I will teach you how to weld round to flat, or round to round.

I often experiment with welding, cook at different speeds, at different currents and compare the results of welds at different positions of the electrode, sometimes very interesting findings are obtained.

One of the most difficult parts of manual arc welding is round to flat or round to round. It is not easy not only for a beginner, but even experienced welders experience lack of penetration at these joints. I will share a simple solution to this difficult welding.

I welded the bushings to the strip, there were two kinds of bushings and strips. The first connection is bushings of 15 pipes and 25 strips, the second type is 25 pipes and 50 strips.

When welding such a connection, the slag constantly flows into the welding arc, here you need to keep it minimally short arc and it is very important to set a sufficient current, if there is not enough current, then this welding simply does not work out.

Also, often with this connection, the electrode begins to trump, in which case it can be difficult even for experienced welders to hold the arc and the weld pool. in one direction, for a beginner it is almost impossible to fix it, the metal will be welded to one of the parts, you will have to change the electrode and digest.

We do not insert the electrode into the holder at a right angle, but insert it into the socket at 45 degrees and bend it further so that it becomes almost a direct continuation of the holder.

Now we hold the grip with the electrode in one hand and rest it on the other like a cue. During welding, we make constant axial rotations of the electrode around its axis.

Applying such a welding technique, we are not afraid of slag flowing into the arc, the likelihood of the electrode's trump card decreases, but even if he starts to trump, then there is nothing wrong, anyway, welding will continue as it should, there will be no surfacing on only one of details.

When welding in this way, you can weld seams even in a horizontal plane, but if possible, it is better to make the parts tilt for better slag flow.

The bushings were welded to the strips, the slag was beaten off, the seams turned out to be tight, there were no lack of fusion. In this way, you can easily weld not only round with flat, but also round with round, weld pipes or round timber along.

Friends, let's watch the video where I explained and showed all the details of such welding.
