Autumn care

When the harvest from the garden and greenhouse has already been harvested, and the first frosts have not yet come, you need to have time to clean the greenhouse. It is quite simple to do this: you need to remove all organic matter, irrigation systems, hedges and paths from the greenhouse if possible.

Only after completing the basic cleaning should you proceed to more laborious actions. To thoroughly wash the greenhouse both above and inside, you will need:

  • soap;
  • water;
  • rag made of soft material.
The main thing to remember is that the use of hard brushes and other grinding materials is contraindicated, since they deform the surface layer of the greenhouse, which protects plantings, and also significantly reduces its duration exploitation.

As soon as the greenhouse has been thoroughly washed, it must be dried and only then can the decontamination be started.

Spraying it with copper sulfate in a proportion of 200 g per 15 liters of water is recognized as one of the reliable ways to disinfect a greenhouse.

It is also necessary to remember that due to high humidity and lack of fresh air in the greenhouse, the soil is often infected with various infections. That is why the soil in the greenhouse needs to be replaced every 3 years. It is not necessary to completely remove all the soil from the greenhouse, it will be enough that the top layer - about 10 cm - will be removed, and new soil will be brought in its place.

Winter care

The most common problem for a greenhouse in winter is heavy snow, which can easily break the roof and bend the supports badly. That is why it is necessary to strengthen the greenhouse even before the onset of frost. This can be done as follows.

A support in the shape of a T is made of durable wood, the upper beam is wrapped with material and dug into the inside of the greenhouse so that the roof rests completely on the support. Such structures for a greenhouse with a length of 4 meters will suffice 6 supports. And for large structures, a larger number will be needed.

It is also best to close the greenhouse doors in winter, especially if the site is rarely visited in winter. And on rare visits, you need to ventilate it so that all harmful substances and bacteria freeze, but only if there is severe frost. In windy weather, it is advisable to keep the greenhouse tightly closed.

Snow from the roof also needs to be cleaned regularly - at least three times a month, regardless of whether it is reinforced or not. Moreover, the entire greenhouse is cleaned. Both a broom and a long-handled brush are suitable for this. The main thing to remember is that hard brushes, various scrapers and other hard tools deform the protective layer of the greenhouse, especially during the winter months. The cleared snow can be transferred to the greenhouse, so in the spring the soil will not need moisture.

Spring care

With the arrival of spring, attention must be paid to the integrity of the greenhouse. It is better to do this in early spring, when the snow has melted, but the soil is still solid (March-April). Need to:

  • repair all damage;
  • cover up the opening mechanisms;
  • treat wood products with an antiseptic (if any);
  • sand and paint rusty places;
  • replace damaged polycarbonate.
In the event that the greenhouse has not been washed in the autumn, this is done in the spring. However, the greenhouse should not be disinfected, since harmful components do not erode in the early period and, when decomposed, will harm the plants.

Summer care. In the summer it is quite easy to care for the greenhouse. It is only necessary to monitor the integrity of the structure (to eliminate defects and breakdowns in a timely manner), and also to ensure that the plantings do not overheat or freeze.
