The choice of planting material and rules of care
Only a plant grown from large "extra" bulbs (diameter from 4 cm, designation 12 / + on the package) or the first parsing (3.5-4 cm, designation 11/12) can fully demonstrate varietal properties. But even they give several full-fledged flowers only in the first year, after which one can expect only 2-3 peduncles with small buds that are not always able to open. In order to update the stock of bulbs not annually, but every 3-5 years, you must adhere to a number of rules.
The soil should be fertile, but loose, with drainage. The plant should be watered regularly as new buds are laid in spring. With a lack of moisture, they will be weakened and formed in a small amount. Organic matter should be added to the soil before planting. Then you will need to make 3 fertilizing with mineral fertilizers. First, they are scattered during the melting of the snow at 40-50 g / m², then when the buds appear before watering, the same amount is applied. Once again, tulips are watered with potassium monophosphate during flowering (1 tbsp. l. 10 liters of water).
As soon as the petals fall off, the upper part of the stem with the ovary should be cut off. When the foliage turns yellow and dries up, the bulbs are dug up. They should warm up well for at least a month at a temperature not lower than + 30 ° C. In early August, within 45-55 days, the storage temperature is gradually lowered from + 22 ° C to + 10... + 15 ° C. The best planting time is the end of September. Due to the fact that the buds on the stem bloom at different times, single plants look sloppy, so it is better to plant them in groups.
The best varieties of multi-flowered culture
Tulip Antoinette blooms in early May, sometimes in late April, forming up to 6 buds. Its yellow petals, folded in the shape of a glass, gradually turn red as it grows. Candy Club also belongs to the "chameleons". A crimson edging gradually appears on the white petals, and small specks of the same color increase and acquire a vague outline.
Candy Kisses has a two-tone color with a deep pink center and peach edges. It can be grown in the open field or in a flowerpot, where it also produces up to 6 arrows, suitable for cutting. Up to 12 flowers orange with a yellow base on several peduncles can grow Orange Bouquet. The stems of the Qibek variety are low and contain only 3 orange buds with a yellow border, but they bloom in early April.
Rosie tulips A bouquet with strong flower stalks and elongated cream-colored buds with pink edging are distinguished by long - up to 3 weeks - flowering. The flowers of the maroon Wallflower reach 6 cm in diameter. Florette is one of the tall bouquet varieties. Its petals are tiger-colored: wide red stripes on a yellow background.
The most impressive are the special subspecies of multiflorous tulips: fringed and double. Up to 7 flowers grow on one stem of the early fringed variety Fringid Family. Its petals are painted in lilac or hot pink, the fringe along the edges is several tones lighter.
At the end of April, the terry variety Belisia blooms. White, sometimes cream petals are edged with a narrow scarlet strip and collected in the form of a tall - up to 10 cm - glass. At the same time, Orca (bright orange) and Aquila (yellow with a red border) are blooming. Late terry varieties include Nirvana (white) and Dream Touch (burgundy with white edging).
Both fringed and densely doubled is the early Snow Crystal variety. It is resistant to frost, unpretentious, has a long flowering, the height of the peduncle reaches 45 cm. Snow-white petals are edged with long needles fringe, sepals are greenish. On one stem, there can be up to 5 peony-shaped flowers.
