Different varieties of pepper differ in the ripening rate and the length of the growing season. This is important to take into account for the correct calculation of the day of planting seeds. You cannot neglect the lunar calendar, which helps to get strong and healthy shoots. For rapid growth, sow peppers for seedlings on favorable days.

The influence of the moon
The phases of the moon have an effect on the cellular level, affecting the growth rate and development of plants, energy potential. At different stages, the direction of movement of nutrients changes.
During the growing phase of the moon, the fluids in the tissues of the plant are directed upward (from the ground). During this period, the aerial part of the shoots and lateral shoots are strengthened. This is the most favorable time for planting material. You can visually determine the arriving moon as follows - mentally draw a vertical line to the month, the resulting letter "P" indicates the growing phase. The most favorable time for planting seeds is the second quarter of the period. In this case, the grains will absorb moisture well and germinate quickly.
With a waning (aging) moon, the month looks like the letter "C". At this stage, the plant juices change direction, moving down towards the roots. During this period, the perception of nutrients from the soil increases, the root system of adult plants develops well. Sowing peppers at this time is not recommended, the seedlings will sprout slowly.
During the full moon and new moon, the plants are at rest, these are unfavorable periods for any manipulation.
Planting recommendations
Plants must have time to grow, form a crop before the onset of cold weather. When sowing pepper, it is important to take into account the climatic features of the area. In warm southern regions, planting according to the lunar calendar can be done later than in areas with severe winters and short summers. It is also necessary to choose vegetable varieties with an appropriate ripening period.
Carrying out works
For growing pepper seedlings, it is better to purchase ready-made universal soil. In the case of self-preparation, the following components are used (in a 2: 2: 1 ratio):
- peat;
- humus;
- coarse river sand.
To exclude soil contamination, the sand is pre-calcined or poured with boiling water.
For sowing, self-collected material or seeds purchased from a store are used. In the latter case, additional processing is not required. Homemade grains must be soaked for half an hour in a weak solution of potassium permanganate, then dried. Treatment with a growth stimulant is also recommended to increase germination.
Sowing seeds:
- It is recommended to warm up the soil to + 40 ℃.
- Fill the container with the mixture to 2/3 of its depth.
- Level the soil surface, make furrows 1-2 cm deep.
- Spread the seeds evenly in the grooves, sprinkle with soil.
- Moisten the surface with a spray bottle.
- Cover with foil.
When shoots appear (about 14-18 days), the shelter is removed, the container is placed in a well-lit room. Basic requirements for successful growing of seedlings:
- In regions with short daylight hours, it is important to provide additional lighting (phytolamps).
- The optimum temperature for the rapid development of seedlings is + 25... + 27 ℃.
- Regular watering is important, the water is pre-defended at room temperature for a day. Moisten the soil by spraying.
- After the appearance of 3 leaves, the plant is fed (5 ml of potassium humate is dissolved in 2 liters of water). During the flowering period, seedlings are fertilized with nutrients.
Transplanting into the ground is carried out when warm weather is established; before planting, the seedlings are hardened. When landing on a garden bed, it is recommended to take into account the lunar calendar; work should be carried out on favorable days. The ideal period is 2-3 days before the full moon. In this phase, groundwater is at a close distance from the surface, providing soil moisture.
A competent approach, taking into account the influence of weather conditions and lunar phases, will ensure the yield of pepper and the ripening of fruits before the onset of frost.
