Mineral fertilizers for onions
A vegetable is planted in early spring; for this, a soil that is drained and rich in organic matter is chosen, with a pH of 6.0-7.0. In the initial stages of development, it is important that the crop forms the maximum number of healthy leaves and retains them for as long as possible, before harvesting. Fertilization ensures maximum yield, improves the quality of vegetables and extends their shelf life.
Recommended scheme for adding minerals for onions:
- before sowing, fertilize with YaraMila COMPLEX;
- 14 days after germination, add YaraVita FRUTREL to the soil;
- during the formation of the bulbs, add YaraLiva TROPICOTE to the soil;
- later, YaraVita FRUTREL is added to the soil to stimulate the growth of the bulbs.
To maximize the yield, the following minerals are used:
- Nitrogen. Add 15-18 kg / ha to the soil. The onion absorbs the substance in large quantities during the growth of the leaves (before the formation of the head). Nitrogen overdose can slow ripening and make the bulbs soft, perishable and unstable. Excessive thickening of the neck of the onion, which worsens its appearance and contributes to the development of diseases.
- Phosphorus. Like nitrogen, phosphorus is required in large quantities at the beginning of the growing season for root formation and good bulb development. It also reduces onion weight loss during storage. For 1 ha, 6-23 kg of substance are used.
- Sulfur improves the size and weight of the heads. Affects the formation of a good taste and aroma of the plant, improves the color of the peel.
- Zinc has a strong effect on onion growth. Participates in the development of chloroplasts and is important for plant photosynthesis. The lack of an element leads to a delay in the formation of bulbs and instability during storage.
Fertilizers for garlic
The following mineral fertilizers are applied to the soil:
- Potassium. Required for the growth of garlic. Farmers apply 8-40 kg of substance per hectare. The peak of potassium uptake occurs during the formation of the plant head. The component increases the dry matter and sugar content of the culture bulbs.
- Garlic needs nitrogen. To increase its content in the soil, 15-18 kg / ha are applied.
- Phosphorus. For garlic, 5-18 kg / ha are used.
- Sulfur. For garlic, it uses 1.5-3.2 kg per hectare.
- Calcium. Essential to ensure good development of leaves, roots and heads of garlic. It increases the strength of the culture, increases its longevity during storage. The element is absorbed in large quantities by onions and garlic during bulb formation. Calcium influences root development, improves the shape, size and color of the heads, protects them from deformation.
- Magnesium improves the appearance of the leaves. The largest amount of components is absorbed during the growing season.
- Molybdenum is involved in nitrogen metabolism and the synthesis of pigments and chlorophyll.
Feeding onions and garlic with nitrogen and calcium substances makes the leaves healthy and resistant to disease, increases the size of the bulbs and increases the dry matter content.
