It is necessary to fight this weed from early spring to late autumn. As soon as the snow melts and the earth warms up, in dry, sunny weather, you should dig up the soil in the garden and get rid of the rhizomes of all weeds. At the same time, a small amount of ordinary chalk, dolomite flour or lime can be added to the soil, since woodlice practically does not grow on slightly acidic soil.
After planting cultivated plants in open ground, the beds and the aisle must be weeded regularly to avoid the rapid spread of woodlice. Freshly weeded crops should be mulched to slow the growth of weeds. To do this, you can use sawdust or shavings, straw or fallen needles.
Collected woodlice sprouts should not be placed in the compost heap as the grass spreads a lot of seeds. Experienced gardeners recommend eating fresh herbs (they have a pleasant fresh sour taste). You can spread the grass on a piece of polyethylene and dry it in the sun - this raw material is useful for preparing various medicinal infusions.
In addition to weeding, experts recommend using folk remedies for tillage from woodlice:
- You can spray with a strong solution of sodium chloride areas that do not have vegetable beds. Or once a month sprinkle the soil with rock salt at the rate of 1.5 kg per 1 sq. m.
- A good result is obtained by treating the weed with a solution prepared from 200 ml of 9% acetic acid, 2 glasses of water, 1 sachet of citric acid, 30 ml of medical alcohol, 2 tsp. l. dishwashing detergents. It is necessary to be careful not to get the substance on cultivated plants.
Chemicals
If wood lice have grown too much, in order to get rid of it, you can use special chemicals that do not harm garden crops:
- Roundup. The drug is released in liquid form. To prepare a solution for treating the beds, it is enough to dilute 10 liters of settled or rain water with 60 ml of the product. Spraying should be carried out in the early morning or after sunset, since the daytime high temperature can neutralize the effect of the drug.
- Hurricane Forte. This herbicide helps to get rid of many weeds quickly and effectively. For 3 liters of water, you will need 15-20 ml of the product. The grass must be processed once a season on a calm day.
- "Tornado". It quickly loses its beneficial properties, so the solution should be prepared immediately before use. For 3 liters of water, you need to take 25 ml of herbicide, stir it well and spray the planting.
An important rule in the fight against woodlice is regularity. Otherwise, it is almost impossible to get rid of this weed plant in your personal plot.
