Purpose of yeast dressings for tomatoes
Microorganisms improve the soil by processing organic matter in it. Fungal formations that cause fermentation and improve the microflora in the environment are called yeast, refer to microbes.
From the activity of bacteria, the soil is saturated with the main trace elements for tomatoes: nitrogen, potassium. The formation of green mass depends on the first, and the second affects the pulp of the fruits, the time of their ripening. Other beneficial substances: iron, magnesium, amino acids. The benefits of yeast feeding are as follows:
- the vegetation of plants is stimulated;
- the growth of roots is activated;
- increased immunity to pests, diseases, sudden cold snaps;
- the extension of the stem in height is blocked.
Top dressing is applied to weakened plants. Healthy, well-growing tomato bushes do not need yeast.
Nutrient Application Time
Yeast fertilizer can be applied to the ground before planting tomatoes in open ground. This is done when forming a garden bed, making compost. When determining the time of feeding, proceed from the following provisions:
- Fertilization starts. After transferring seedlings, but not earlier than 2 weeks later: tomato seedlings should gain a foothold in a new place.
- The frequency of feeding. The interval between nutrient waterings is 14 days.
- Number of procedures. During the season, yeast fertilizer is applied 3 times. With the beginning of fruiting, feeding of tomatoes is stopped.
Excessive yeast in the soil is harmful: the intensive growth of plants depletes the earth. Frequent use of fertilizer leads to overgrowth of greenery, which inhibits fruiting.
Fertilization methods from yeast
Foliar dressing is ineffective, the nutrient mixture is better absorbed by plant roots through watering tomato bushes. It is important to respect the proportions when making a yeast solution or when using it dry. Ways to use yeast feeding:
- A simple clean water method. Pour 1 tbsp into a bucket (10 l) of warm liquid. l. sugar, 10 g yeast, stir, leave in a warm place for 2 hours. The beginning of the fermentation process is determined by the foam formed on the surface. The consumption rate is 0.5 liters for 1 bush. Before watering, the solution is mixed, and after that the soil is mulched with sawdust.
- Top dressing on herbal infusion. Young herbaceous greens are tightly placed in a bucket, pressed on top with a stone, poured over with warm water, left for 4-5 days. Mullein diluted in a 0.5 liter jar, 1 tsp. l. yeast, 1 tbsp. l. sugar is added to the infusion, kept for 2 hours. The resulting mixture is diluted with water 2 times, the bushes are watered in the morning or in the evening.
- Multi-component solution. For a bucket of water: 10 g of dry yeast, 1 glass of ash and chicken manure, a little sugar. Stir, leave for 1 hour.
Yeast should not be diluted with hot, very cold water: such an environment is destructive for microbes, they lose their properties. Observance of proportions, frequency of watering will ensure a good harvest of tomatoes.
