Good afternoon, my reader. Compost is a very good fertilizer, but takes almost a year to rot. To feed the garden faster, you can prepare an infusion of fermented herbs. It only needs weeds, capacity, water - and only a few weeks in time.

What is required

To prepare fertilizer you need:

  • Large barrel or sealed (non-leaking) crate. The barrel should be wooden or plastic, but not metal - excess iron oxides in the soil are not needed.
  • Green mass. Any weeds, hay, straw, including old chicken bedding will do.
  • Nitrogen fertilizer as a seed. One tablespoon of urea or potassium nitrate is enough.

It is also permissible to use a liquid solution of chicken manure, but in an amount of no more than 3 liters.

Cooking process

Fertilizer is prepared as follows:

  • The green mass is crushed and poured into the barrel. The quantity - the more, the better, even to the brim.
  • Chopped weeds are filled with water, best of all - settled in buckets or a street barrel.
  • If the weather is warm, and plants with a high nitrogen content were placed in the barrel, fermentation begins and lasts two weeks.
  • When the infusion becomes cloudy, actively bubbling and has a heavy manure odor, the product is ready.
  • The contents of the barrel are mixed so that the rot that has formed is washed off the grass, and separated. The liquid (with the exception of 1-2 buckets of base for a new bookmark) is used as a root fertilizer for plants, and the grass mass can be dried and used as mulch, or better, thrown into a compost heap: let it rot there to next year.
Since the microorganisms that cause fermentation quickly die, it is not recommended to keep the infusion for more than a month. It is best to renew the contents of the fermentation barrel every two weeks.

Cooking nuances

The best result is obtained by using chopped nettles in the bookmark. It draws a lot of nitrogen from the soil, and therefore the infusion is richer.

Any plant organic matter can be used as the basis for fermentation. For example, a drop from apples, torn tops, crumbling leaves are perfect. The main thing is: you should never put in the organic matter that has been damaged by the disease - many fungi and bacteria feel great in a fermentation barrel and can spread with infusion.

Additional recipes

If there is a pond nearby, you can prepare aquatic plant food. She prepares like this:

  • 50 liters of water and the same volume of reeds (cattails) and sedges with the addition of nettle or lupine are placed in the barrel.
  • Add 0.5 kg of chicken manure or 5 kg of fresh manure. It is also good to add about a liter of microbial fertilizer.
  • Then everything happens as described above.

It is also helpful to use a herbal infusion with a yeast solution. It prepares like this:

  • For 10 liters of water, 1 kg of nutritional yeast is taken.
  • The liquid is diluted with water in a ratio of 1 part solution to 20 parts water.
  • The finished herbal infusion is mixed with a diluted solution in half and used for watering.
Finally - briefly about the effective use of herbal infusion. For some plants (for example, trees), it is suitable in its pure form. For the rest, it is better to do a 1:10 dilution and water the beds with the resulting solution.
