If we talk about the so-called royal mushrooms, then this variety can be safely eaten. However, there are also pitfalls in the form of poisonous twins.

Appearance

The royal mushroom is one of the brightest and favorite representatives of the Amanitov family by mushroom pickers. The people call him Caesar. It also has other names, but less attractive, for example, Caesar's fly agaric or edible amanita. Outwardly, it really looks very much like a red fly agaric, so they are often confused.

Early in its development, the mushroom looks like a small white egg. Then he forms an orange semicircular hat. Gradually, it begins to straighten and becomes flat. Under the cap there are yellow plates that look like a fringe along the edge.

The edible fly agaric is considered a gourmet product. You can cook it in any way, and in its raw form it is absolutely safe and very tasty.

It is important to be careful about collecting this mushroom, so as not to get to know the poisonous representatives too closely.

Silent Hunt Rules

It is necessary to collect these mushrooms in light and old forest areas. The season starts in October. Favorite places - under oaks and chestnuts. However, the royal mushroom does not shy away from proximity to birches, beeches, herringbones, and hazel trees.

During the collection, certain rules must be followed:

  • If there is any doubt, you cannot take the mushroom. It is very dangerous.
  • The fruit body is not cut off, but twisted. Otherwise, the rest of the leg will rot and destroy the entire mycelium.
  • If the summer is dry, then the mushrooms grow near the trunk, and if it is wet, then they should be looked for at some distance from the trees.

Differences you need to know

In order to taste it and not get poisoned, you need to know the common counterparts of the edible fly agaric. At an early stage of development, it can be confused with a pale toadstool. To make sure it's edible, you need to cut the hat. Toadstool has white flesh, while Caesar has yellow flesh.
