For example, I always try to stock up on all sorts of preparations for the coming winter period so that in the cold and dark months of snow blizzards, my head does not hurt from looking for snacks and convenience foods. A little daughter said recently that our homemade squirrel is also stocked up in a similar way, which carries seeds and grains into its box.
I don’t know what the furry pet feels at the same time, but I am always glad when I see my pantries, filled to the brim with all sorts of supplies.
Today I want to tell you how I make delicious tomato halves stuffed with onions and butter. I really like this canned product, both as an appetizer and as a dressing for making sauce and other dishes.
The process of making this snack is very simple and consists of the following steps
For a liter jar you need:
- Ingredients: halves of tomatoes, onions - 1, bay leaf - 1, black pepper - 4-6 peas, sunflower oil (odorless) - 1 tbsp. l., table vinegar (9%) - 1 tbsp. l., dill sprigs - 1-2 pcs.
- For brine: liter of water, white sugar - 4 tablespoons, fine salt - 1.5 tablespoons.
1. Putting spices in jars
We wash the cans with soda and keep them over steam for 5-7 minutes. Next, we spread all the available greens to the bottom. Then we peel the onion, cut it into half rings and also put it in jars.
2. Put halves of tomatoes in jars
Choosing the best tomatoes (with the juiciest pulp) available. After we cut them in two and cut them down, spread them in a rather dense layer in prepared jars.
3. We prepare and fill in the brine
Constantly stirring boiling water, pour salt and sugar into it and completely dissolve all their crystals. Then we put peas, bay leaves there and pour the resulting brine into jars.
4. Add oil
Pour refined sunflower oil on top.
5. Sterilization, pouring vinegar
Next, we sterilize the jars in a water bath. The duration of the process is 15 minutes (or a little more) after the water boils. Then pour the vinegar.
6. Roll up the lid
In conclusion, very quickly close the jars with lids (jars with screw lids are best for this).
7. Final process
Finally, let the product stand for a day, after which we wrap it in cloth and put it in our pantry for storage.
The resulting canned snack can be safely stored in the apartment for a whole year. A jar of these spicy tomatoes will always come in handy to diversify your winter diet.
Eat to your health!
