Good afternoon, my reader. You can start feeding when the vegetable releases arrows. This procedure is very important, as yellowing can lead to low yield levels.

Why does garlic turn yellow?

  • When the snow melts and frosts begin, the plant may turn yellow. In this case, it is necessary to process it with growth stimulants (for example, "Zircon" or "Epin" are perfect).
  • The soil lacks useful elements (after all, in the spring the soil has not yet had time to be saturated with them). The reason for the yellowed dry ends is a lack of nitrogen or potassium. The most effective way to save the situation is through constant feeding.
  • Lack of moisture. Do not forget to water the garlic at least 1 time per week (if there is no rain). If it's hot outside, water once every 5 days.
  • Sour soil. It is necessary to adjust the pH level - this can be done with ash or dolomite flour.

How often should garlic be fed?

  • After the snow melts, wait a week and start using fertilizers.
  • In the first half of April (approximately 2 weeks after the first feeding).
  • In late spring (at the stage of head formation).
  • In the first half of June.
If the soil is fruitful, there is no need to spray the plant with additional nutrients. They will not be superfluous if the garlic grows in clay soil or if the weather conditions are bad in the region.

When feeding, consider also certain factors that affect the growth of the plant:

  • acidity of the soil;
  • grade;
  • weather conditions in the region.

Improperly fertilized garlic will cause acidification or alkaline soil formation. The plant may not tolerate such changes.

How to feed garlic in spring?

  • Mineral fertilizers

Gardeners recommend using these fertilizers (starting in the spring) because the nutrients are washed out with each watering. It can be a whole complex or one element. There are different ways of feeding with mineral fertilizers: nitroammofoska, nitrophoska, urea. It is also recommended to use phosphorus (you can prepare a solution consisting of 50-60 grams of superphosphate and 10 liters of water).

  • Organic fertilizers

This type of feeding is inexpensive and affordable for everyone. The most popular additives are bird droppings, liquid mullein, and wood ash. After the second or third time, you will immediately notice the effects.

  • Folk remedies

There are also several proven folk methods. The most famous are eggshells, fish oil, watering with yeast, ammonia, saline.

What fertilizers should not be used?

It is recommended to handle fertilizers carefully. Do not use undiluted solutions. Do not water the plant with undiluted chicken or mullein. Do not increase the number of feeding procedures, also do not combine mineral fertilizers and organic matter.
