As in 1981 killed more Soviet military leaders than during the war

For a long time the tragic crash of the Tu-104 that occurred February 7, 1981 carefully concealed the Soviet and then Russian leadership. This is not surprising, because in this day killed a few dozen high-ranking generals and admirals of the Pacific Fleet. Let's find out what really happened that day.

In the Soviet Union it was made to conceal information about the various disasters and tragic events. Take at least an accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant - the main thing, to create the illusion of a peaceful and prosperous nation. A similar situation occurred with the death of Tu-104. At the time of the incident I have written only one official military newspaper "Red Star", and it does not specify any details.

And that's what happened that day. On the eve of the Leningrad Naval Academy held a gathering of military leaders of the Soviet Navy. At the meeting came to a lot of high-ranking officials: admirals, generals, officers. It was made conversation with students and conducted teaching. February 7 command structure was supposed to fly from Pushkin back to Vladivostok.

For rapid deployment decided to use an old jet airliner Tu-104. According Novate.ru, aircraft for several years has not been used in civil aviation, but continued to be used by the Soviet army. Liner well in the work, and seemingly nothing could portend trouble. In the morning on the plane stepped fifty people, among whom were sixteen admirals and generals, ten captains of the first rank, a few midshipmen and sailors. Most of the soldiers were officers of the Pacific Fleet. The crew consisted of the standard six.

Weather for the flight was not the most successful - the snow and ice. Tu-104 was dispersed on the runway and slowly lifted off the ground. However, on the eighth second of flight something went wrong. The plane rapidly gained the stern, he stood up "for the buck" and collapsed to the airfield from a height of fifty meters. Since the fuel tanks of the Tu-104 was full of fuel, the fire was inevitable. All on board were killed.

The only one who showed signs of life by the time rescuers arrived, was aircraft technician who was in the take-off time in the cockpit. From hitting the ground he was thrown through the window, but he died on the way to the hospital. That's the key figures of the Soviet Navy were lost for a few seconds. Only a large number of officers in such a short period of time does not die even during the world wars.

Immediately after the disaster began an emergency investigation. Initially, the incident took for an act of sabotage, but it was far more prosaic. It turned out that the plane banked due to overload, and in particular due to the improper disposal of the goods, who was also on the plane other than passengers. During the climb heavy loose rolls of paper rolled toward the tail of the aircraft, and it is caused by extreme movement of the center of gravity. Despite the apparent negligence loaders Tu-104 still decided to withdraw from the operation of harm's way.
