HOW TO PROVIDE ORCHID CARE CORRECTLY

Phalaenopsis is a type of orchid that blooms several times a year. Flowering usually lasts about two months. It is important to see the end of this process correctly and in time. If you notice that the tip of the branch becomes as if waxy, then you need to note for yourself that the flowering will end soon. Also, the best time for pruning phalaenopsis is October - November. After the plant has bloomed, it is better not to touch the branch immediately, it should dry out a little. If the orchid branch is completely dry, you can prune it. But in the case when there are buds on it, it is better not to prune at all, since, most likely, the plant will bloom again. There is also a third option: the branch is half dry, not completely, then it is better to wait with pruning. The plant may still have nutrients.

In other orchid species, flowering can also happen again. Therefore, if the arrow is half dry, then it is better to cut off its dry part. Although this does not guarantee that the orchid will be able to bloom again.

IF WE CUT ANYWHERE, HOW CORRECT TO DO IT

It is important to wait until the moment when the orchid has completely faded, otherwise you can simply ruin the plant. A fresh branch should never be touched. Pruning can be done in several ways.

The first approach involves removing the branch just above the dormant bud, 1.5 cm. And here it must be remembered that such pruning can slow down the emergence of new branches, since the plant will spend all its energy on the formation of the next buds.

The second approach involves cutting the branch at the very base. In this case, a root of 2 - 3 cm is left.

WHAT TO CUT THE ORCHID

Regular scissors will not work in this case, since we can unintentionally injure the orchid. Burrs and uneven edges can enter various germs and bacteria, leading to diseases of your favorite plant. Therefore, we purchase in advance a garden pruner in the store. Before the trimming procedure, we disinfect our instrument. This can be done in several ways: simply wipe it with a solution of bleach or dip the scissors in boiling water. But disinfection is necessary in any case in order to avoid the penetration of unnecessary infection.

After trimming, it is also recommended to process the cut site. You can use beeswax, iodine, brilliant green. This is necessary so that the branch does not rot and lead to the death of the entire plant.

CORRECT CARE REQUIRED AFTER CUTTING

Since a procedure such as pruning is stressful for the orchid, the orchid needs complete rest after it. It is better not to use fertilizers at all during this period. Water the orchid in moderation, try to ensure that the room has the optimum temperature for the flower - 24 degrees during the day and about 17 at night. You also need to take into account the lighting, the orchid loves diffused light. It is necessary to protect the plant from direct sunlight, this can lead to its death. Often, after pruning, it is recommended to transplant the flower into a larger bowl.

By following the simple rules for caring for an orchid, you will always have a beautiful and healthy plant.
