Money tree: how to transplant and care for

  • Dec 13, 2020

Good afternoon, my reader. All potted plants require periodic replanting. Indeed, as flowers grow, old containers become too cramped, and the earth in them is gradually depleted. In this article, we will tell you how to properly transplant and care for a fat woman.

Features of the fat woman and the signs associated with it

The jumbo family includes more than 300 species, but only a few of them are used for growing as a houseplant.

The fat woman familiar to everyone, popularly called the "money tree", has another botanical name - crassula. Feng Shui adepts believe that she is capable of:

  • Attract good luck and financial well-being to the home in which it grows.
  • Promote a positive mental attitude.
  • Give vigor and strength.
  • Help overcome shyness and isolation.

But only healthy and well-groomed plants have positive properties, and the sick and neglected can bring troubles to careless owners. Fortunately, the bastard is very unpretentious and usually grows without any problems.

The money tree is a slow-growing plant, so it does not need frequent transplants. It is usually transplanted into a slightly larger pot of fresh soil every couple of years. The best place for a fat woman is a southeast-facing window.

How to transplant

It is best to transplant a fat woman in the spring. The pot should not be too spacious. The root system of the crassula is located superficially, so wide and low containers will be the best choice. The diameter of the pot should be chosen approximately equal to the diameter of the tree crown. Feng Shui followers recommend planting a money tree in red clay or ceramic pots.

Priming

You can buy a ready-made soil mixture for succulents or buy a universal soil and add 1/4 of the sand to it before planting. And you can prepare a suitable soil mixture yourself by mixing equal parts of sand and sod land with 1/4 of humus.

Remember that a drainage layer (about 2 cm high) must be laid on the bottom of the pot so that the roots do not rot. The fat woman is a succulent, so it is better to forget to water it than to do it too often and abundantly.

Carefully remove the plant from the old container along with the clod of earth, place it in a new pot on top of the drain, and top up the remaining empty space near the walls with fresh soil. The root collar is left at the same level, there is no need to fill up the soil from above, otherwise the fat woman will start to hurt.

The stalks and leaves of the bastard are very fragile, so try to act as carefully as possible.

Care

Transplanting is a lot of stress for the plant. Place the flower in a shaded place and water very sparingly, or better for the first time, replace watering with spraying with water at room temperature.

Feeding can be done no more than once a month and only from spring to autumn. Fat women are suitable for complex fertilizers for succulents and cacti.

For healthy growth, a fat woman needs:

  • Sunlight.
  • Moderate watering (in winter, no more than 1-2 times a month).
  • Fresh air.
  • Cool wintering (+ 10-12 ° C, but not less than + 6 ° C).
With good care, a fat woman can begin to bloom with pinkish flowers at 15-20 years of age.
