Good afternoon, my reader. Violets, or Saintpaulias, can bloom for nine months a year, with the exception of a dormant period when the plants need rest. But some growers complain about the lack of flowering in violets. There are several reasons for this.

Incorrectly selected soil when planting a plant
Saintpaulia has very delicate roots, so heavy soils are not suitable for it. Ready-made soil for violets can be bought in specialized stores, but it is easy to prepare yourself. 40% of it should consist of fertile garden land or forest, and the remaining 60% - high moor peat. The lower peat is too heavy and sour, and saintpaulia does not like acidic soils. We must not forget about drainage, as stagnant moisture will lead to decay of the roots. For the same reason, it is necessary to loosen the soil in the flowerpot more often.
The pot is chosen incorrectly
Should the pot be plastic or clay? Florists often argue about this. But this is not so important: both plastic and earthen pots have their own disadvantages and advantages. The most important thing is that it is not too big. In a large pot, the plant will waste nutrients to develop the root system and will not bloom.
Improper watering
There are several ways to water Saintpaulia: regular, in a pan, and wick. In the usual way, it is watered with warm, settled water in moderation, draining excess water from the pan. Or they pour the liquid into the pan, and the violet itself takes as much moisture as it needs. When wick watering into the pot at the stage of planting, a cord is inserted into one of the holes in the bottom of the pot. One end of the cord is dipped into a container of water, and the flower practically waters itself. But the most important thing is that no matter what method of watering you choose, you should not allow waterlogging. Otherwise, the violet will not bloom.
Top dressing is carried out incorrectly
In stores there are feeds for violets, which contain all the necessary substances. They should not contain a lot of nitrogen, as it promotes the growth of green mass in plants. And for the formation of flowers, potash-phosphorus fertilizers are needed. If you are preparing food for violets yourself, consider the ratio of these substances.
Insufficient lighting
Violet is a light-loving plant, therefore it is necessary for it to find a place in the house that will be maximally illuminated by the sun's rays during the day. But direct sunlight can cause burns, so the light must be diffused. In case of insufficient lighting, they resort to using a fluorescent lamp.
Diseases and pests
Flowers may not form due to diseases or parasitic insects. You need to carefully examine the plant for their presence. It can be worms, and ticks, nematodes, and gray rot, and late blight. The most important thing is to get treatment on time.
If you eliminate all these reasons, then your violets will delight you with their delicate flowers almost all year round.
