It is best to keep crassula in an apartment on the south, west or east window. However, in winter, it may need additional lighting.
The northern windowsill for the money tree is an unfortunate placement option. The culture will suffer from a lack of light, which means it will grow slowly and gradually lose its decorative effect. The crown in this case will not be dense, and the foliage will not be bright and large.
The soil
The plant loves neutral sandy soil, loose and light. It should be grown in a purchased soil mixture for succulent plants. Homemade soil, obtained by combining the following ingredients with each other, is also suitable:
- turf land - 1 part;
- sand - 1 part;
- leafy ground - 3 parts.
Pot
Crassula grows poorly in a large deep container. To grow a money tree, you should choose a pot that meets the following requirements:
- low;
- wide;
- made of eco-friendly material;
- having drainage holes at the bottom.
In a container intended for growing crassula, drainage must be present in the form of a layer of expanded clay, perlite, brick chips at the bottom. It will prevent stagnation of moisture in the pot and rotting of plant roots.
Watering
Crassula does not tolerate waterlogged soil. Excess moisture is harmful to her. It threatens with decay of roots, fall of foliage, damage to the flower with gray rot.
At different times of the year, this potted inhabitant is watered in different ways:
- in warm months - 1 time in 7 days (or 1 time in 2 weeks, if the plant is adult);
- in cold weather - 1 time in 20-28 days.
If from November to February the pot with the plant was taken out into a cool room to maintain a dormant period, watering is minimized. The soil should not dry out deeper than 4 cm.
Pour the crassula with lukewarm, settled water.
Fertilizers
Abuse of fertilizing is unacceptable. It threatens with a slowdown in flower growth, its incidence.
Fertilizers should be applied at a time when the stems and leaves are actively growing (spring-summer). It is advisable to feed the fat woman with a purchased cactus nutritional mixture.
Indoor temperature
Crassula refers to the thermophilic representatives of the flora. She feels well in a room with an air temperature of +18 ° C to +25 ° C.
The heat is not terrible for the plant. However, in this case, it will need to be watered more often.
It is advisable to take a rest during the winter months of Crassula. To do this, it is left in a room with a temperature of +10 ° C to +15 ° C.
Transfer
For good growth and development, a money tree must be transplanted in a timely manner into a large container. A diseased flower also needs a transplant. If Crassula is affected by a fungal infection and its foliage turns black, during transplantation, the roots are dipped in the Fundazol solution.
A sick fat woman is transplanted, following step by step instructions:
- The plant is removed from the pot along with a lump of earth.
- Shake off the soil from the roots. They are washed in running water.
- The damaged areas of the roots are cut off.
- The roots are dipped in a medicinal solution (you can immerse in a solution of potassium permanganate for half an hour).
- The money tree is planted in a new container with a fresh, moistened substrate.
