Organization of the diet

The seedlings must receive all the elements necessary for normal development. Over and under nutrition can be equally harmful. Proper feeding of tomato seedlings is the basis of their abundant fruiting.

The key points of the diet are the correct dosage and timely feeding. Tomatoes begin to feed after the appearance of 2-3 true leaves and repeat this procedure once every 2 weeks. The last feeding of seedlings is carried out 7-10 days before planting it in a permanent place.

Important elements that tomatoes need in the first days of growth are potassium, which is contained in wood ash, and nitrogen, which is rich in mullein and bird droppings.

Additional feeding of tomatoes

Nitrogen deficiency in tomatoes manifests itself in the yellowing of the foliage and the appearance of red veins on it. In this case, the nitrogen nutrition is increased by spraying the seedlings with mullein infusion prepared in a ratio of 1:10.

Yellow spots on the leaves indicate a lack of calcium. In this case, the tomatoes should be watered with the water in which the eggs were boiled, or an infusion of crushed eggshells should be used for this. It is cooked in a 1:10 ratio and infused for 10-20 hours. You can also spray the plants with a solution of calcium nitrate, prepared in a ratio of 20 g per 10 L of water.

With iron deficiency, which also manifests itself in yellowing of the leaves, a solution of ferrous sulfate 0.25% will help.

If the leaves of tomatoes begin to curl, then they lack phosphorus. In 3 liters of boiling water, you need to dissolve 1/2 kg of superphosphate and leave until it cools completely. For spraying or watering, 150 ml of the resulting concentrate is dissolved in 10 liters of water and 20 ml of sodium nitrate solution (30 g per 10 liters) are added.

With a lack of potassium, the upper leaves on the shoots are bent. Such plants are fed with wood ash infusion or an aqueous solution of potassium sulfate (5 g per 10 l) is used.

Lack of copper causes wilting of leaves, they lose their elasticity. In this case, an aqueous solution of copper sulfate is used (2 g per 10 l).

Boron deficiency causes an increase in stepchildren. They retard the growth of the main shoots. In this case, the seedlings should be watered with boric acid solution. For 10 liters of water, you will need 5 g of this drug.

With a lack of magnesium, pale spots appear on the stems and leaves. Magnesium nitrate solution will help. It is diluted in a ratio of 1 tsp. l. 10 liters of water.
