The time for transferring seedlings to open ground is a month after planting the seeds. The root system of young plants is still weak, there is a possibility of damage to it. Timely and high-quality feeding of cucumbers is necessary so that the vegetable crop does not wither at the beginning of its development in the garden bed.

Types of dressing for cucumbers in the garden
Fertilizers are mineral, organic, complex. The former are used in the absence or impossibility of introducing the latter: an excess of nitrogen, urea leads to the appearance of barren flowers. The taste of cucumbers is lost from the excess of mineral fertilizers. It is better to use organic-mineral mixtures.
Types of dressings for cucumbers:
- Preplant soil preparation. Under the autumn digging, slightly rotted organic matter is introduced: manure, compost, foliage, vegetable tops (except for pumpkin), food waste. Humus, ash is added to light compositions in the spring.
- Root - performed by watering fertilizer under each bush. Such feeding is good in that it replenishes the consumed nutrients in the soil, but a violation of the dosage can lead to the death of the entire plant.
- Foliar dressing - irrigation of the bush with a solution. Cucumber leaves are able to absorb nutrients from their surface. The concentration of fertilizers when diluted in water should be reduced by 2 times.
The frequency and methods of fertilizing are determined depending on the stage of development of the bush: with regrowth of lashes, flowering, fruiting.
Fertilization time and composition
A week before transplanting seedlings, organic matter is laid in open ground: rotted manure, sawdust, last year's foliage are buried by 40 cm. The bed is covered with a film. Fertilization sequence:
- Immediately after moving the seedlings. Watering is done under the bush with an aqueous solution of urea: 1 tsp. l. 3 liters. The norm is 200 ml per root. After 7 days, a complex fertilizer is prepared: 1 tbsp is mixed with water in a three-liter bowl. l. ash, 1 tsp l. nitrophosphate. Foliar dressing - 1 month after planting.
- With the appearance of the first flowers. Solution for root treatment of a plant: pour 40 g of superphosphate, 30 g of ammonium nitrate, 20 g of potassium salt into a bucket (10 l) of water. At the beginning and end of flowering, the bush is sprayed with a solution of boric acid: ¼ st. l. on a bucket of water.
- During fruiting. When greens appear, the plant needs nitrogen, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus: their supply in the soil is intensively consumed. With the detection of the first fruit, root watering is carried out with a solution of nitrophoska in water: 1 tbsp. l. on the bucket. When the procedure is repeated after 7 days, a mixture of mullein infusion is used - 0.5 l, 1 tbsp. l. potassium salt, 10 liters of liquid. Subsequent feeding is done at weekly intervals and using organic stimulants: compost, herbal infusion.
The yield of cucumbers is increased by spraying the leaves with a solution of urea at the rate of 50 g of the substance per bucket of water. Mineral fertilizer for foliar top dressing - ash: 1 cup of powder is infused in 10 liters of liquid during the day.
Transplanting seedlings into open ground is a stressful situation for a plant; it is imperative to increase the nutrition of cucumbers at this time. It is important not to overdo it with the concentration of fertilizers, then the yield will be guaranteed to be high.
