Why garlic is good for indoor plants
Ornamental plants can be found in almost any home. Flower owners are faced with various problems: root rot, wilting, lack of flowering, diseases and pests. There are a wide variety of chemicals available in flower and horticultural stores, but not all of them can be used in a living space. In order not to poison plants with chemistry, experienced housewives use ordinary sown garlic. All components of this vegetable have substances that insects cannot tolerate. Garlic is also a natural antiseptic. It also has a number of other useful properties:
- Antifungal.
- Disinfectants.
- Antibacterial.
- Antiviral.
All these qualities help flowers to grow properly, develop, rid them of insects, and prevent rotting.
Putting garlic in flower pots
The main task of the cloves of garlic buried in the ground is to get rid of harmful insects and prevent diseases. The chemical compounds present in garlic disinfect the soil, thereby preventing pathogenic microorganisms from multiplying in it. If the soil is initially “clean”, garlic will prevent these pests from appearing in it in principle.
There is also an option - planting the garlic directly in the pot to the plant. Such a neighborhood will benefit the indoor flower - the garlic will exude phytoncides and allicin. He, in turn, instantly kills fungus and bacteria and various viruses.
Ways to use garlic for protection
Experienced flower growers offer three simplest options. Let's take a look at the first method. To implement it, you need:
- One fresh garlic clove.
- Fresh water.
Usage method:
Cut a clove of garlic into pieces and bury about 2 to 3 centimeters in the ground in a pot. And water the plant with fresh cool water. After two weeks, be sure to dig up the garlic chunks to prevent rotting and mold.
The second option is to use a garlic infusion. To do this, you need:
- One fresh garlic clove.
- One liter of fresh water.
Grind the garlic in a garlic press, dissolve this gruel in one liter of water. Let this solution stand for 24 hours and water the flower. After such watering, the soil is disinfected and becomes unattractive for the reproduction and life of harmful insects and pathogenic microbes.
The third recipe is especially good for spider mites. To prepare the solution, you will need:
- 450 grams of fresh raw garlic: chives, tops, arrows, garlic integumentary scales.
- Warm water.
All parts of the garlic must be chopped, put in a three-liter jar and filled with warm water. After a day, you need to filter the solution, refill the garlic parts with water, leave for 24 hours. Squeeze out again and pour with this solution as needed.
