What a polyanthus rose looks like

This rose forms low bushes with dense foliage, flowers bloom on them are not large, but in large quantities. It continues to bloom from early summer to late autumn. Their color varies from red, deep pink, rarely white and pale pink. The flowers themselves are terry, strong, collected inflorescences. One such inflorescence can contain up to 50 flowers at a time. Bushes can be both low, up to 40 centimeters, and high, up to 60 centimeters, but they are always strongly branched.

The positive qualities of the polyanthus rose

The rose has a lot of them:

  • There are no thorns on the stems and trunk of the bush.
  • Flowers are formed literally on every shoot, because of which the foliage is almost invisible.
  • Polyanthus rose is one of the most frost-resistant varieties. It can be grown even in the harshest regions of the country, such as Siberia and the Urals.
  • It blooms even after light frost.
  • There is immunity to fungal diseases. Unlike other roses, polyanthus rarely gets sick with a fungus, which allows it to bloom profusely and not lose color.
  • This rose has a high degree of vitality. It grows out of a 10 cm shoot. Even if the top of the plant has died for some reason, the rose will quickly recover and continue to bloom.
  • Feels good outdoors.
  • This variety can be grown from seeds without any problems.
  • It blooms even in dark places.
  • Grows well on loose and moist soils.

Disadvantages of a polyanthus rose

With a huge number of pluses, there are a couple of minor negative points:

  • There is no variety of colors. Most often, you will see pink or slightly reddish flowers.
  • Polyanthus rose almost does not smell. But to some extent this is not bad, because this variety is grown in large plantings, not everyone likes the sugary and heavy aroma, and in the polyanthus rose it is almost imperceptible.

Care and landing rules

There are two options for planting roses: from seeds and cuttings. It is easiest to do this with cuttings, you can separate and root them whenever you want.

To grow sprouts from seeds, a number of conditions must be met:

  • The seeds are kept in water for 2 weeks before planting.
  • The soil should be special for roses and pre-moistened.
  • The seeds should not be deepened much, by 0.5 cm.
  • It is best to plant seeds in December, then the sprouts will get stronger and develop enough for transplanting into the ground.
  • Cover the sprout with foil for a month and air it periodically.
  • Pour drainage into the pot before planting, it is best to use ash and compost.

The grooming is not too different from the usual arrangements for roses. To create favorable conditions for a polyanthus rose, you need:

  • Trim dry shoots, leaves, stems in spring.
  • Remove dry buds.
  • Water once a week if there was no rainfall.
  • Apply mineral fertilizing.
  • For the winter, cover with sparrows and huddle the ground near the roots.
