Rule one: sowing

Cook lavender in winter. Yes, almost like a sleigh in summer. Seeds are prepared for sowing in advance. They must go through a long period of stratification. To do this, they are kept in the cold for 2-3 months or sown in containers and stored in this form outside. In late February - early March, bring the containers into a warm, bright room, water in a timely manner, and the seedlings will not be long in coming.

Rule two: cuttings

If you decide to propagate lavender by grafting, choose summer cuttings, they take root better. Summer cuttings are harvested during the first cut of flowers. They can be planted in pots or directly into the ground. With the approach of the first frost, be sure to cover the rooted cuttings. Store sprouts in containers in a bright room at a temperature of 5-7 degrees above zero and keep the soil moist.

Rule three: processing

To better root the cuttings, treat them with a specialized growth stimulant before planting, according to the instructions. Free the lower part of the stems that will be in the ground from the leaves.

Rule four: soil

Lavender grows in very Spartan conditions. It is a mountain flower that does not need rich soil. It will grow in the poorest areas, among rocks and debris. Consider this wonderful property when choosing a place for a lavender flower garden.

Rule five: fertilizers

Again, remember the harsh natural conditions of lavender growth and remember that you do not need to fertilize it. Let's even say - absolutely not worth it.

Rule six: watering

Lavender lives well in arid areas, and excess moisture leads to decay of the root system. Therefore, it is necessary to water adult plants only during dry periods and immediately after cutting the flowers. Newly planted cuttings require watering 2 times a week.

Rule Seven: Formation

The formation of a bush is carried out by pinching for young shoots or by pruning for adult plants (it is carried out in spring and autumn).

Rule eight: wintering

In central Russia, lavender is sheltered for the winter, this is especially true for snowless winters, when the bushes are most susceptible to sharply negative temperatures.

Rule nine: variety selection

The variety of ordinary narrow-leaved lavender has adapted best to our conditions. The bushes of this variety perfectly tolerate severe winter frosts.

Rule ten: pests and diseases

The plant is very resistant to parasites and diseases. And most likely you will never encounter these problems on lavender bushes. But still pay attention to the state of flowers and greenery and take action in time. It is better to dig up and dispose of frankly diseased plants immediately so that they do not become a source of infection for healthy ones.

Nothing complicated, right? A drop of patience and diligence, and you will have your own lavender field, or at least a clearing.
