Phased feeding of strawberries

The first feeding after the end of the berry collection falls on the last decade of August. During this time, mullein, bird droppings, and manure are considered the best fertilizers.

Poultry droppings are most often purchased in agricultural stores in the form of pellets. They must be dissolved before use. Dry fertilizer cannot be used. The high concentration of the composition has a detrimental effect on the root system of strawberries.

For 10 liters of water, it is enough to take 1 kg of granules. Stir and send to infuse for 1-2 days. For 1 bush, 1 liter of liquid is used. During feeding, you need to make sure that the composition does not fall on the green parts of the plants, so it is advisable to distribute it between the rows.

The mullein should be used only after it has completely rotted. Fresh manure causes the spread of fungal infections in strawberries. To prepare the nutrient composition, take 1 bucket of settled water and add 1 kg of humus and crushed charcoal each. Insist 20 hours, then use for watering.

Humus can be applied to the beds and dry, laid out under the bushes. The manure layer serves as mulch and provides the plants with food for several years.

Excellent results are obtained by fertilizing plantings with slurry. To do this, 1 kg of humus is diluted in 8 liters of water and insisted for several days. Then they bring 1 liter per bush to the garden bed.

The first top dressing should include only one of the options presented, organic is introduced only once. This is enough to saturate the plants with nitrogen. An excess of a trace element leads to the death of plantations.

The second stage of fertilization falls on the third decade of October. Leaves are completely removed from the bushes before feeding. Compositions with phosphorus and potassium are used. They are brought in both diluted and dry.

The use of wood ash gives excellent results. It not only contains useful trace elements, but also protects strawberries from pests and diseases. You can dust the soil around the bushes with ashes or prepare a solution. For liquid fertilizer, 150 g of ash is dissolved in 10 liters of settled water and left for 2-3 days. Then filter and add 500 ml for each piece.

If there is no time to prepare the fertilizer, you can purchase any complex preparation intended for berry crops. It is bred according to the instructions.

Fertilizers for remontant varieties

Repaired strawberries differ from the usual fruiting 2 times per season. The first harvest ends in the 2-3rd decade of June. At this time, it is necessary to perform a number of works so that the second time strawberries also give a good harvest.

Repeated fruiting occurs in the first decade of August. Until this time, it is necessary to cut off the leaves on the bushes. Such manipulation will serve as an incentive for active flowering of the plantations. After removing the green mass, you can start adding nutrients.

During this period, the use of organic matter or a mixture of mineral fertilizers is allowed. You can take 30 g of potassium salt and 20 g of superphosphate and ammonium each. The granules are mixed together and scattered in the aisle. Then the soil is abundantly watered with settled or rainwater. This amount of substances is sufficient for 1 m² of plantings.

Before using cattle manure, it must be diluted with water. For 1 bucket of liquid, it is enough to take 2 kg of fertilizer. Everything is mixed until smooth, then watering is done. 10 liters of the composition should be enough for 1 m² of strawberries.

A solution of poultry manure is prepared less concentrated. For 10 liters of water, it is enough to use 600-700 g of the substance. No more than 4-5 liters of liquid are used per 1 m². In this case, care must be taken that the composition does not fall on the bushes, which is fraught with the appearance of burns.

After re-harvesting, nutrient mixtures are added to the soil again. In this case, the composition of fertilizers and the method of their application does not differ from the feeding of conventional varieties.
