1. Start in frost

This means that any engine: new, old, gasoline, diesel - they all require warming up in frost.

2. Overheat
No less than severe frosts, the engine is afraid of overheating. Poor quality fuel, bad coolant and low coolant levels, leaks in the cooling system - all this leads to overheating of the engine. Also, the so-called "vnatyag" driving leads to overheating - driving at low revs and at high load. Due to severe overheating in the engine, it can: "drive" the cylinder head, cracks appear, break through the cylinder head gasket, destroy the inter-ring baffles in the pistons. It follows from this that the cooling system must be closely monitored, especially on old cars.
3. In the red zone
Each engine has a certain margin of safety, laid down by engineers during development. Those who like to drive keep the engine speed in the zone close to maximum all the time. In this mode, the motor always works at its limit and very quickly consumes its safety margin.
4. Oil
Engine lubrication plays an essential role in its operation. It is very important to regularly change the oil, because over time it loses its properties and is no longer able to provide the required level of surface lubrication. Many drivers neglect the timely oil change and can drive for a long time without changing it. It is even worse when drivers do not regularly check its level and drive with an insufficient amount of it.

5. Water hammer
Quite a rare phenomenon, but it's better to know about its existence. When driving through deep puddles or storming a river on off-road rides, water can get into the engine and then expect trouble.
