If there is no opportunity to purchase modern furniture, but really want to change - do not despair, because everything is in our hands. You just need to want to, be smart, persistent and make every effort. This is exactly what a charming girl, a lover of experiments and just a creative person did. Demonstrating her imagination and ingenuity, she transformed the old Soviet furniture beyond recognition, and made it much more functional and practical than it was initially.
Nadezhda is a creative person and always tries to make life brighter, and with her own hands. This time she shared a video in which she filmed the process of reworking an old wooden bed from Soviet times. Many people remember that the furniture of those times, although it was of better quality, did not differ in special beauty and functionality, therefore, Nadezhda wondered how and where practical storage systems could be made, which became a pleasant addition to her functional.
In order to give the old furniture a modern and more glamorous look, the girl needed an acrylic primer, directly the acrylic paint itself of the desired color, colorless varnish for furniture, brushes and velor rollers for painting, interesting decorations for masking screw caps, wheels for pull-out storage systems, metal corners for fastening parts, fabric and foam rubber for the mattress topper.
Since she had a lot of plywood left from previous alterations, she did not have to buy additional materials to create drawers and a narrow bedside table. The girl thoroughly prepared for her new experiment and nevertheless decided to purchase a jigsaw and a small sander.
When all the materials and tools were available, she proceeded to dismantle the old bed. This process did not take long, because there were not so many details in its design. After that, the girl proceeded to remove the top layer of varnish and paint, since it was not epoxy resin, which was poured in a thick layer in those days. With the help of a grinding machine, it was possible to quickly remove the coating, after which I carefully removed all the cleaned-off dust and residues of the coating material with a damp cloth. At the end of this procedure, the authors of Novate. Ru is advised to give time for the product to dry thoroughly, otherwise paint peeling will be guaranteed. Nadezhda primed the prepared parts of the bed, and she did it twice in order to level the surface and get a better adhesion of wood and paint.
Advice: Each coat of both the primer and any other coat should be allowed sufficient time to dry.
After the primer was completely dry, the girl started painting. A soft pink was chosen as the main color to give the room a touch of glamor. Despite the fact that the paint for furniture turned out to be quite dense, it was decided to apply it in two layers, because the outer side of the walls of the bed is often subjected to mechanical stress. When all this beauty was dry, the bed could be assembled.
Despite the fact that the assembly did not take much time, Nadezhda decided to update the mattress itself, because its old upholstery was outdated long ago. Since the bed was pink, in order not to overdo the mattress topper, the girl wanted to make it white. To do this, she needed a thick fabric, a sheet of the same size as the top of the mattress, 2 cm thick foam rubber and a regular elastic band. As a true needlewoman, the girl was engaged in sewing herself.
To begin with, she sewed a sheet on the inside of the future mattress topper, leaving a small pocket, in which she placed the foam rubber without any problems, leveled and fixed it in the corners so that it did not move along yourself. I made a fold of the fabric along the lower part of the canvas, stitched it and threaded a regular elastic. After that, it remained only to put it on, and it was possible to install the transformed bed in its place.
Considering that there is free space under the bed, Nadezhda did not leave him unattended, because in small areas every centimeter should be used competently. After the last alteration, a sufficient amount of plywood remained, and it was she who put it into motion. Taking into account the parameters of the remaining space and the allowance for the thickness of the material, the craftswoman made a preliminary calculation and drawing.
Advice: If you plan to make drawers on wheels, do not forget to add their height and a small gap so that the structure can move freely.
After that, I cut every detail on plywood and cut it out with a jigsaw. So that the roughness did not spoil things, and there were no splinters in the hands, each cut had to be carefully sanded. When all the details were ready, using ordinary metal corners, Nadia connected all the walls of the box and fixed the bottom with self-tapping screws.
As you know, dust constantly collects under the bed and you cannot leave open boxes in any way, therefore Nadezhda also made lids, which she fixed with hinges, so that they could be without any problems open. The girl decided not to install unnecessary accessories, so for the convenience of using the boxes, she drilled round holes using a drill with a special nozzle. After that, I attached the casters and the mobile storage systems were ready.

But Nadezhda's experiments did not stop there, because there was very little space left between the bed and the wardrobe that had already been converted earlier (16 cm), which she also decided to use. By the same principle, she made and assembled a high pull-out bedside table with several shelves, which she also decided to paint white so that it would be in harmony with the wardrobe. Since the caps from the screws still stood out even after painting, the girl decided to hide them with the help of golden half-beads. When everything was dry, the pull-out bedside table took its place.

At this, the alterations of the sleeping area ended, the next stage Nadezhda promised to show how she arranged a working corner in this room.
Some girls, despite their external fragility, are so creative and inventive that you wonder what they are capable of. And far from construction professions craftswomen manage to independently change the interior of the room beyond recognition in just 5 days.
