The next important factor is the presence of additives. So, pure domestic gasoline has an octane rating from 75 to 80. This is not enough for normal engine operation, so special additives can be used. For example, a very long time ago, lead was added for this, but due to its unsafeness, it was decided to use alcohols and paraffin.
