The aviation industry of the Soviet Union was far from the last in the world, moreover, the USSR designed the best aircraft for a significant part of its history. True, this mainly concerned military equipment, but in the civilian sector everything was not so smooth. Of course, this was not without exception. Suffice it to recall the famous Tu-114, which many consider the most comfortable Soviet aircraft, and some of the most comfortable in the world at one time.

The Soviet passenger aircraft Tu-114 was not created by domestic designers from scratch. The basis of the car was (oddly enough) a Tu-95 bomber. The design was so successful that it was not difficult to adapt it for civilian needs. Moreover, the technical features implemented in the 95th turned out to be relevant for aircraft. peaceful half of the sky, moreover, the broadest field was opened up for designers and engineers for creativity. It was thanks to this that the most comfortable passenger aircraft of the USSR was made.

The Tu-114 was born in the mid-1960s and quickly gained fame as one of the most comfortable liners of its time. In total, 31 such aircraft were created in the Soviet Union. It is quite difficult to understand what is special and exceptional on a plane until you find yourself inside. One of those cases when it is better to see once than hear a hundred times.

Salon

Even today, the interior looks good. | Photo: yandex.by.

The salon is the first place where all passengers strive to get (and where else can they go on board the plane ?!). It must be admitted that the Tu-114, even by modern standards, has something to see. So in the front and rear of the side there were passenger seats. 6 pieces in each of the rows. An additional cabin was located in the upper middle section of the aircraft, which today could be compared to business class. In addition, there were four compartments aboard the plane, reminiscent of those in train carriages. These, by the way, were the most expensive places.

Bathroom

On board the Tu-114 there were three toilets at once. Just one glance at the photo will be enough to understand that each of them, on average, is much better than those bathrooms that are available in modern liners. It is noteworthy that the toilets on the 114th were divided into male and female, and were also located in the rear of the aircraft. Each bathroom has an unusual space inside.

Kitchen

On board the passenger liner there was a fairly spacious kitchen with everything necessary for warming up and preparing meals. Next to the kitchen there was a small lounge for the crew, and there was also a buffet for passengers. Since the plane's cabin was two-story, there were also a couple of elevators next to the kitchen, which were supposed to make the flight attendants' movement much faster and more convenient.
