It happens that you paint a fence, and after half a season it is all red. If rust was able to capture even a seemingly protected metal product, then some serious mistakes were made during painting. So that corrosion does not develop at all, and a metal fence (or any other product) has served faithfully for more than one season, you should remember about five simple, but very important rules.
1. Cleaning and stripping
Before you start painting metal products, you should clean the material from dust, dirt and rust. You should not once again trust the widely advertised means in this matter. It is best to use proven techniques and tools, namely a metal brush. To facilitate and speed up the workflow, you can adapt the brush to a screwdriver or grinder.
2. Down with the dust
Many people themselves remember very well that before painting a metal product, it should be thoroughly cleaned. At the same time, many owners, for some unknown reason, completely forget that this nuance also concerns metal dust, which inevitably remains on the product after preliminary stripping. In addition, it will not be superfluous to carry out the procedure for degreasing the working surface. Only after completing the entire set of actions will we get a perfectly pure metal.
3. Temperature regime
The temperature regime must be observed not only in the living room and the refrigerator. It is important to pay attention to the thermometer before using a paint roller or paintbrush. Do not paint at all if the outside temperature is below 20 degrees Celsius. Otherwise, the paint will dry significantly longer than necessary.

4. More layers
Paint manufacturers recommend applying their product in 1-2 layers. However, experienced craftsmen and owners know that when it comes to protecting the metal, it is best not to regret the paint at all and to do at least three layers! Do not even try to apply a protective substance in one thick layer. Moreover, between applying each of them, you must pause at least 30-40 minutes.

5. Complete curing
Allow the paint to cure completely before carrying out any physical action on the newly painted metal part. Especially when it comes to installing some elements on a newly painted product. Since the paint is applied in more than one layer, it would be best to wait 5-7 days from the start of work and only after that take on the "hard" operations.
