TOP 5 inventions that, at first glance, violate the laws of physics

  • Dec 14, 2020

As we know, everything in nature works according to certain physical laws. But some people still managed to come up with something that breaks the generally accepted stereotypes. And sometimes it seems that these inventions violate the laws of physics. Or do they not?

N5. Strange top

Since childhood, we are familiar with such a simple toy as a top, but the top is fraught with one inexplicable secret. There is a top with a long leg, and if you spin it strongly, then it is able to stand on the leg, while changing the direction of rotation.

How this happens - scientists cannot clearly explain. In Japan, experts have also created a top, but a cylindrical top that can only rotate in one direction. This behavior of both tops violates some physical laws.

N4. Riding on water

Everyone has long known that wheeled vehicles cannot cross water obstacles. But this was considered until the time when one of the motorcyclists drove several hundred meters on the water surface.

This is due to the fact that at high speed the water dissipates very slowly under the wheels, and creates a sufficiently dense surface that supports the motorcycle. In a car, this is much more difficult because the car has more air resistance.

If small paddles are attached to the rear wheel of the motorcycle, then it is important to “ride” on the water surface without any problems, even along the river.

N3. Perpetual motion machine

Ever since school, we were told that a perpetual motion machine is impossible in nature. For a long time, man created models of perpetual motion machines, but not one of them did not work. But still, in the 17th century, an English inventor created a water screw, which was able not only to rotate itself, but also to do useful work. The engineer even managed to create a working plant for grinding grain.

Nowadays, scientists have also managed to create a device that works on permanent magnets. This installation uses neodymium magnets to rotate a large wheel. This model of a perpetual motion machine is demonstrative, and it does not perform any useful work. Both of these devices can hardly be called perpetual motion machines, since the resource of the materials from which they are made is finite.

N2. Vacuum cleaner-crane

It turns out that using a household vacuum cleaner can lift a car. If you try to do this with one hose and one suction cup, then nothing will work, but if you distribute the force vacuum for several dozen hoses and for the same number of suction cups, then it is quite possible to tear off the car from land.

The main thing is to evenly distribute the suction cups over the entire surface of the car. This experiment was carried out by a group of American scientists, and they found out that the power of an ordinary household vacuum cleaner was enough to lift a subcompact car by several tens of meters.

N1. Elevator to space

It has long been known that space travel is very costly. All flights are associated with high costs not only for the construction of spacecraft, but also for their refueling. Japanese specialists are designing a space elevator that will be able to deliver not only people and resources into space, but even satellites.

The difficulty lies in the fact that this elevator must lift loads at a distance of several hundred kilometers above the ground, and at this height, this elevator must have good stability. Today there are technologies that allow you to build objects of such height, while taking into account the speed of rotation of the Earth. The construction of these structures is unthinkable without modern nanotechnology.
